They are who we thought they were!

Last night was very discouraging, I don’t think we were necessarily beat by a better team, but I do think we were beat by ourselves. I have a sad fear that we have “shot our bolt” And we are going to follow the Tige and Mariners into oblivion

We are back to where we have been it seems like forever, with a very bad defensive OF. The Mets won last night because they have an OF that can catch the ball

The OF they had last night, Mountcastle, Mullins, and Stewart, isn't very bad.  It's okay.  And those three had nine hits last night.

Also, Mountcastle is the only one of the three who's name is more than penciled into the long-term lineup.

What I want to see is the Orioles running through the tape.   Sure I’d like to see them grab a playoff spot, but more so, I’d just like them to play decent baseball to the end. I’d consider that to be pretty significant progress.

Yes.  The roster consists of enough guys that are being looked at as possible long term options that playing well to the end is something that's significant.

I was just looking up the details for Stewart’s fielding error last night. It allowed the runner to take third. That runner probably would’ve scored anyway on the single that followed, which is why it was still an earned run. But I don’t know whether a better outfielder would have tracked down any of the balls in the outfield that went as singles. I’m not saying one way or the other, but it is clear that the Mets outfield is completely competent.

And the Orioles allowed 7 runs.

This all started with the Orioles getting swept in 4 games by the lowly Florida Marlins ........ well, those Marlins are not so lowly at after all. They just took 5 out of 7 games from the Phillies, and their overall record is 24 Wins and 21 Losses.

The 2020 Orioles may be who many Oriole fans thought they were, but the 2020 Marlins certainly are not who most thought that they were ........ not in the) W-L )column, anyway.

The Rays were able to overcome their early-season sweep at the hands of the Orioles ...... they clinched their first AL East Title in 10 years with a win over the Mets tonight.

After the Rays got swept by the Orioles in late July, their overall record was 4-6 ...... since then they have gone a sizzling 33-14, good for a .702 Winning Percentage.

The Marlins just clinched a playoff-berth with an extra-inning win over the Yankees.

In fact, it it is the 2nd consecutive night in which a team celebrated a playoff berth by beating the Yankees ...... last night, the Blue Jays secured their first playoff appearance since 2016 by beating the Yankees in Buffalo.

So both Florida teams which were part of the subject of the OP will be in the 2020 MLB playoff tournament, while the Orioles and their fans look forward to 2021.
