Heading into yesterdays series finale in Washington, the Orioles led the American League with a .475 Batting Average on 0-0 counts.

2 of their 3 Home Runs in the 8th inning Saturday night came on the 1st pitch.

While the Orioles relaxed on a day off, the Phillies blasted the Braves.   They led 13-1 after 8 great innings by Aaron Nola (who we will obviously miss),  but the Braves got 7 runs in the 9th inning to make the final score appear closer than the game was, 13-8.   In that 9th, Nick Markakis hit his 500th career double.  The rally in the 9th did force the Phillies to use an extra reliever they hadn't planned to.

I hope the Orioles wear body condoms in the visiting clubhouse in Philadelphia that was infected by the Miami Lepers a couple weeks earlier.

The O's used no pitchers yesterday.

The Philly's strike me (they should stop doing that) as a very talented team.  Therefore, I'm expecting the O's to sweep them.

Don't like starting Severino over Sisco against the right-handed Wheeler.

If they want Severino in the lineup, he or Sisco should DH with Nunez at first (or Ruiz at first and Nunez at third) and Davis sitting.

Severino has a career OPS of .628 against righties vs. .777 against lefties. It should be a straight platoon (excepting day games after night games)

Why is Davis playing? Don’t we have a shiny new bauble just waiting to be showed off?
It’s like continuing to drive that nasty old Ford while the Maserati sits in the garage untouched.

The third through sixth spots in the Phillies' batting order look like they can be very troublesome.

J. T. Realmuto has been on a tear recently.  Didi Gregorius has always hit well against the Orioles.  So has Jean Segura (though he hasn't been hitting too well against anybody else this year).  And there are reasons why the Phillies gave Bryce Harper all that money.

If Cobb can work his way around those guys, it could be a good night for him.

So Iglesias was off Sunday because it was a "scheduled off day" and the quad was fine.

But tonight he's out because the "quad is tender".   Hyde says available to pinch hit.

It's going to cost him a quarter of his season in a few more games.
