He may or may not reach the 186 Plate Appearances required (60 x 3.1) in the first place.

Diaz could add some real juice to this team as well. Will Hays be another Reimold?  The spoiler role might be the closest we get to the Playoffs. It sure would be nice to see some of the other arms after seeing Kremer and Akin.

Well here's 4 out of 5, all coming on strong just as of this week. I would add Valdez to this quartet... and Harvey. May their magic touch continue!

Quote

The trio of López, Akin and Kremer, all new starters to the rotation, put up this combined line since Friday night: 16 1/3 innings, seven hits, four runs, one earned run, eight walks and 17 strikeouts. That is an ERA of 0.55.

DJ Stewart hit a two-run homer in the first to give the O’s a lead they would not lose today. It was Stewart’s third homer in three at-bats going back to last night’s win.

1: Mountcastle will achieve more than one All-Star nod.  So will Austin Hays.  I guarantee it.
3: Let the bullpen work itself out.  Play the relievers in different situations to figure out where they best fit.  Since we aren't in serious contention the last thing we need is to have a concrete 7th inning guy, lefty specialist, or closer.  Move people around and see where they shine.  The situational analytics of this management team are miles ahead of previous years.  Trust the process.
4: You guys gotta give John Means a break.  Its a messed up year and on top of that he lost his father. He came back way too quick from bereavement leave and it's been very clear from his body language. Even though the results haven't reflected it, his stuff is way better this year.  Give him an offseason to process things and he will be just fine.
5: Akin looks good.

I agree on Means.  This season is a complete mulligan.  I'll begin next year with him just where I began this year: hoping that 2019 was real, but realistically expecting some dropoff from that, but hoping the dropoff is such that he can still be a mid or back rotation guy for the next several years.

The short second spring training, where he missed the last week with an injury, then a couple starts when he wasn't fully built up to 5 innings, followed by the death of his father, bereavement leave, and another quarantine period...that's a lot to overcome.  Would be nice to see a few good starts in these final 3 weeks but even if there aren't, I still wouldn't give up on him.

I agree on Means as well.   He should have 4 more starts; hopefully he can pull together a couple of good ones in there.

I agree ...hopefully he can figure it out but I thought he pitched way over his skill set last year. I’m hoping I’m wrong and he gets it back.
