LHP Bruce Zimmermann promoted and will start game 2 today

Recommended Posts

This seems like additional smoke to the speculation from yesterday.

The starter for the second game of the double-header has not yet been announced.

With Phillips announced as the 29th man, Kline would seemingly be the most likely candidate to go back down after game 1.

Wojo has been DFA’ed.

He’s not the guy I pegged as closest to the axe. Why him instead of Phillips, Hess, or Carroll?

None of those guys are on the 28-man roster, so they wouldn't have cleared room for a callup.

Well that's one Rule 5 protection done. So long Wojo, I will miss your glorious hair and that one start last year was insanely good vs. the Red Sox.

More young SP - I love it.

Rotation consists of:

Cobb
Means
Akin
Kremer
Lopez
Zimmermann

Do we expect Zimmermann to go right back down?

I wouldn't think so. He should be a candidate to be in the Opening Day rotation next year, so they aren't going to play service time games. See what he has these last 10 days.

If they were going to send him right back down they would have called him up first and then Kline afterward, since Kline would be the most likely reliever of the players in the roster pool to join the roster for the last games of the season.

Yeah forgot it's only 10 days. Just go with 6 starters or skip Cobb or piggyback, who cares. Haha.

Hyde said he expects Zimmerman to pitch again. Unsure if as a starter or piggybacking someone.
