Tracking Ex Oriole Thread

Recommended Posts

There’s been discussion of this in the ex-O’s thread in the Major League forum, where webbrick2010 is silently eating crow at the moment.    But that’s where it belongs.

Happy with how Kremer is doing, anxious to see what Diaz and Pop will contribute eventually.

He's got a 1.000 ops and leads the NL in HR's this year. I'd say he's finally reached his ceiling after a disappointing first year in San Diego.

He’s having a terrific year.   It’s kind of a shame that we’ll never know how he would have done over 162 games in 2020.

The NL MVP race should be interesting.

Manny: .322/.384/.619, 16 HR, 46 RBI, 2.8 rWAR

Betts: .303/.376/.597, 16 HR, 39 RBI, 3.1 rWAR

Freeman: .349/.460/.641, 11 HR, 48 RBI, 2.5 rWAR

Ozuna: .313/.402/.596, 15 HR, 47 RBI, 1.7 rWAR

Tatis: .279/.368/.574, 15 HR, 40 RBI, 2.2 rWAR

There are other guys who have a higher WAR than Ozuna and Tatis, like Conforto, Story and Yaz.    Will be a fun argument once all 60 games have been played.

Kevin Gausman had a nice outing yesterday, 6 IP 1 H 1 ER.   On the year he’s carrying a 3.76 ERA.    Nice bounce back season for him after a very tough 2019.

And his K rate is his best ever as a starter.  11.6/9.   I thought I had read he lost velocity, but guessing he found if so or never really lost it.

Hyun-Soo Kim hit (is hitting? I think the KBO is still going on) .349/.408/.560 with 109 RBI in 121 games for the LG Twins.  Striking out in less than 10% of plate appearances, which is physically impossible in the '20 Majors.

Tyler Wilson is 10-8, 4.44, 106 Ks and 39 walks in 142 innings.  24 starts.

Not an Oriole, but former Cubs uber-prospect Addison Russell is OPSing .669 for the Kiwoom Heroes.

Odrisamer Despaigne, arguably best name in Oriole history, is 15-7, 4.07 for the KT Wiz.

Mike Wright is 11-6, 4.07 in 141 innings with NC Dinos.

Dan Straily, who allowed 442 homers in 15 innings for the O's last year is 12-4, 2.53 with eight homers allowed in 170.2 innings for the Lotte Giants.

Zack Britton had a nice ALCS, pitching 4 scoreless innings and striking out 6 while yielding only 1 hit and 2 walks.  In the wildcard series he threw 1.1 innings and yielded only two walks, but they both scored when the pitcher who followed (entering with 2 outs in the 7th) yielded a two run double.   Overall, a good postseason for Britton BUT THE YANKEES LOST!!!

Saw this post and went to look at see when Zack is a free agent again and saw the Yankees have a decision to make after the world series:

$1m assignment bonus if traded. Club must decide on 2022 option following 2020 WS; if club declines 2022 option, then Britton may opt out of contract immediately.

Pretty easy decision if you ask me.   They’ll pay him.

Did the Padres get what they paid for? I say probably not.

Are some grapes sour?

I say probably.

He's an MVP candidate on a playoff team.

Also why is this in Orioles' Talk?

Manny finished the year with a .304/.370/.580/.950 batting line over 60 games, notching 2.8 rWAR. Would be a 7 WAR season even extrapolated over 150 games. That would be good for his 3rd best year of his career, just behind 2015 (7.5) and 2016 (7.3), years in which he played 162 and 157 games, respectively. If we spread it over 162 games, it would be 7.6, which would be his best of his career.

Obviously, he might not keep up the pace. Alternatively, his pace could have improved. Point is that he had a hell of a year and there's no way the Padres are upset about the deal right now sitting at the end of 2020.
