The draft reports on Mayo, and recent fluff piece from instructionals, make it seem like he has huge upside. Who would I rather have in my org? That guy. He could be similar to Gunnar Henderson, though without the SS potential.

I was thinking Vavra in here, and Baumler looks like he has potential too, but I didn't want to keep Mayo out so I only had one choice there.

I very much doubt McKenna is in the top 20. I know there is value in a legit 4th OF (defensively), but I don't believe in his bat at all. He's more of a 5th OF, IMO, and I'd rather have a ton of guys over him, including everyone else in this poll.

Has Adam Hall fallen so far? I thought he was basically our next starting SS?

Tony isn't high at all on McKenna, so that eliminates that option. I'm guessing Mayo will be ahead of Baumler as well, as everything I've heard suggests he's the better prospect. So that leaves Haskin and Vavra or Vavra and Haskin. Given that the club is playing Vavra in center field and that he's farther along than Haskin, who from what I understand is super raw, I'm going to go with Vavra and Haskin

Keith Law was the only one I've seen with Hall all that high. He was the next SS more because he was the only SS in the system with any potential of being a major leaguer. We have a lot more depth now. I think we see Hall somewhere in 15-20 range, but will be interested to see where he lands on the list.

I'm guessing Tony went pure upside with Mayo and Baumler.  None of the other pairings clicked "Tony" for me.

Mayo is ahead of Baumler in Tony's poll.

I'd be surprised if Haskin is above them, but what do I know?

Agree with RZ above and will dream on the potential (and large signing bonuses) of Mayo and Baumler.  

FWIW, I would take Hall over Mayo/Baumler.  Vavra is a bit of a wild card here - really no idea where Tony will put him.

I would take Hall, Mayo and Baumler over Haskin.  Let's see what the survey says!

If you don't mind me asking, why would you want Hall over them?

I like Hall, but the upside seems pretty replaceable to me.

It’s about this time whenever we do this experiment, that I realize I don’t know a thing about prospects. But I do think Tony is high on Vavra. I actually thought he would be ahead of Diaz, I don’t think Baumleris so high because he’s only a highschooler with a tremendous amount of risk. Not sure of my guess yet, but Vavra will be one of them.

Hall was ranked 17 last year, behind several players who are still on the board and didn’t play in Bowie this summer.   Based on Tony’s comment in another thread that he wasn’t going to change the order of the incumbent players from last year who didn’t play at the alternate site, I think that rules out the McKenna-Hall choice.   

Haskin was picked ahead of Baumler and Mayo, and received a bigger bonus than either of them.   Accordingly, I see no reason either of them would jump Haskin on the list.   

So, that leaves Vavra-Haskin or Haskin-Vavra.   I’ve seen Vavra ranked as high as 7th in our system (per Fangraphs), so I’ll go Vavra-Haskin.

Seems like Vavra should definitely be in this tier, and I remember Baumler getting some glowing takes so my guess is Tony is buying the hype.

Frobby's logic is good, as always.

I think of Mayo and Baumler as the cream of our class, even above Westburg. That's my own bias based on what I've read, I guess. At this point, accounting for draft slot/bonus is a logical way to do this. Add in that Vavra is much higher rated in other places, is more known for his bat and that he may have some upside on the positional value side, and it argues that he/Haskin is the choice.

Even though I explained my vote, I would not be shocked if Tony ranked Mayo and Baumler over Haskin.
