I'm expecting a bottom 3 team with sloppy defense. I just don't think Elias is ignoring defense when putting together this roster. I think defensively, Iglesias to Galvis is a somewhat lateral move and Sanchez over Alberto is an upgrade. I wouldn't be shocked if he plucks someone off the waiver wire towards the end of ST to replace Ruiz at third. Ruiz and Severino were seen as solid defensively unfortunately, it hasn't worked out that way exactly.
It remains to be seen what happens with Stallings and Jean but I'm thinking we'll probably regret trading Iglesias. Even though he wasn't going to be a part of the next winning team here, he (when healthy) shored up the infield defense at a position of need. I think the notion of "OMG WE NEED A STRONG DEFENSE WITH A YOUNG DEVELOPING STAFF" is a bit overrated but I'd have liked a DP combo of Iglesias and Sanchez this year. It would have helped.
Yea obviously he’s gotta transfer that over to the games, but I just meant to say that the swing itself looks shorter and quicker to me during BP, so the physical ability for him to do that is there. Whereas with “the catcher who broke our hearts,” I doubt if. he could ever have shortened his swing even in BP. Adley looks to be a quicker athlete than Matt.
