Stan Charles asked that.  I was floored that he would mention it.

Leave it to Stan the Fan... lol.

Wondering which CD will be handling more this year... bat or the clubhouse broom.

An open letter to Chris Davis:

Dear Chris,

Please come to a financial agreement with the O's to end your career in Baltimore immediately.  You have given the O's fans nothing but failure on a historical level for 3 straight years and show absolutely no signs of changing that.  You are also taking away opportunities for players who are far more deserving than you are.  You know that the right thing to do - for everyone's sake - is to retire immediately, and you owe it to everyone to do so.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and action to this matter.

 - Ruz

Unfortunately, he doesn't.

I've been saying it for awhile in a few threads - we won't have to worry much about Davis clogging the roster over the next two years.

He got that "Lower back strain" by stepping in that Ubaldo puddle. Love it though. I don't even want him taking PAs in spring training from Steve Wilkerson, and that says something.

He must have hurt it while carrying the team these last few years.  We couldn’t have been one for the worst teams in the sport without him!

I mean, the Angeloses saved like 12 million by not releasing him.  We're probably resigned to another season of watching Davis suck, if not for the likelihood (hope) that part of the 2021 season is cancelled and they won't be on the hook for the salary.

I honestly think this might be the beginning of the end and that he won't come north this year.

They've figured out how to handle Covid in sports. Teams will play. No salary relief this year.

I doubt they bet on a strike. I think this little injury might be it for him. Am I crazy?

    • Pretty simple statement, right.    But with Hays coming off the IL, what does it mean?   To me it means "If you hit, you play." That means players that are hitting don't sit at this point.   Maybe later when its hot or they are tired but not now.   So Mullins CF (928 OPS), Urias 2B (816 OPS)  Franco 3B (757 OPS),  Stewart LF/DH (756 OPS), Galvis SS (725 OPS) should play every  games, as long as they keep hitting.   Hyde says he will use a rotation with Hays returning.  Who should be in the position player rotation?   My answer is those that normally hit well but are not hitting well now.  Mancini 1B/DH , Mountcastle 1B/DH, Santander RF and Hays OF should be in the rotation until they start hitting well.  That means they play 3 games out of every 4 games. (Mountcastle looked good at 1B the passed few games.  He doesn't need to play LF with Hays and Stewart available.) The leaves  Severino/Sisco sharing catcher where neither is hitting. And Ruiz who should be a bench player for now at 2B/3B.    That is the way I would try to improve the offense.   When someone hits better they play more.  When the don't hit they sit more.   Seems simple to me.   What is your take on who should be in Hyde's position player rotation?
    • The fact that he’s ahead of Cole and Bieber just shows how bad rWAR is for pitchers.  Means is really good but not on the same planet as those guys.  fWAR is much better for pitchers.
    • Elias.    We have a chance to be 2-3 games better than what we are right now if he was actually managing the roster to put us in the best chance to win.    Hyde had to keep throwing Armstrong out there because Lakins/Sulser weren’t on the team because we’re trying to keep two rule 5s and Leblanc. That’s cost us. The three man bench severely limits us in close games, especially in Extra Innings. That’s cost us.    162 is a long season to keep having to endure tanking.
    • Oh I know this is coming. It would not surprise me at all if Rutschman starts off slow, not because I think he will bust but because the Orioles are just cursed and can't have nice things.
    • Might have to chalk this up to Elias. 26 man roster and we’re still playing with a 3 man bench. With the new extra inning rules do we really need all those pitchers to cover innings? We’re losing games because we need 3+ LR options at all times.    Stevie Wilkerson seems like the perfect 4th bench guy at the moment. He’s not a prospect so we don’t care about him sitting on the bench. He’s competent in the IF/OF.  He’s fast and a good base runner. He can eat an inning in a blowout by pitching. Heck, or save a game. Did that happen???
    • I said it two years ago, I'll say it again, I think John Means will start the next playoff game the Orioles play in.
    • What’s the corresponding move to activate Hays?  Looks like just a straight swap with McKenna is likely. Sulser, Lakins, or Tate, could be an option too. With playing in an NL ballpark for two games, and having two off days, we may elect to go with a bigger bench and drop an bullpen arm.
