May 5: afternoon rubber match in Seattle with Means on the mound

First solo no hitter for the Orioles since Palmer in '69.   Just the 4th ever (Wilhelm, Phoebus, Palmer, Means).

Really annoying that the media is saying 10th franchise no hitter and counting St. Louis Browns.

It’s one of those curious stat games. It’s not a perfect game, and yet he faced only 27 batters. I think that’s happened only once before

Must have happened a few other times. For example, batter walks or reaches on error and then a DP. What's unusual is that the batter reached striking out.

Maybe it's been posted, but according to Elias, this is the first time in MLB history that a pitcher has thrown a no-hitter with no walks, no HBPs or no errors.

Assuming they mean without it being a perfect game?

Didn’t I predict this back in the fourth inning?

I predicted it a few days ago, when I saw Means was scheduled to pitch. I don't think I mentioned it to anyone, though.😉

Yeah, it’s not the same.  I was born in 92.

I thought you were way older than that.

That's a compliment....

Cashman is on the phone right now, calling Mike, who has instructed his secretary not to take the call, unless instead of saying, “hello” he says, “I’ll give you my number one prospect.”

A little like the 1917 Ernie Shore game:

Boston starting pitcher Babe Ruth became agitated after walking Ray Morgan, Washington’s leadoff hitter; Ruth then confronted umpire Brick Owens about balls and strikes, suffering a swift ejection; Shore entered the game; and, after Morgan was caught stealing on the first pitch, Shore retired the next 26 batters consecutively, resulting in what would, for many years, be considered a perfect game.

Nice find!

I was thinking the same thing.  Jim Brown is the greatest rusher in Ravens history.   NOT!

First solo no hitter by an Oriole in my nearly 50 years and it has to be a weird afternoon game where I have to take the kids to soccer. Missed the whole thing, but awesome job by Means.

He'll just have to throw another one for ye in an evening game!

Probably because most of the music I post is from decades before I was born 😛
