Kurt Warner for HoF? I say yes.

Recommended Posts

I don't really have anything new to add to the discussion, except for (possibly) this:

I've heard many talking heads talk about Warner's huge yardage totals in the 3 Super Bowls that he's now played in. But I almost never hear anyone mention the costly pick 6's that he threw against NE and Pit. I know that interceptions aren't always the fault of a qb. Passes can get tipped by a defensive lineman or bounce off a wr's hands or a wr can run the wrong route. But those two int were thrown directly to the defender.

If he doesn't throw those two picks, it's very likely that he's a 3 time SB winner.

That said, I could see it going either way with Warner and the HOF, and I wouldn't care either way. (Now, I never understood how Warren Moon got into the HOF. He accumulated some nice looking stats in a run and shoot offense and never did anything in the playoffs. BFD.)

Jim Kelly has 2 TD and 6 INT in 4 SB's and 20 TD and 28 INT in the playoffs throughout his career and he is in the HoF. Granted he played longer than Warner and had more better seasons, but he pretty much continuously laid eggs in big games and is still in Canton.

but I don't know how Proehl or Az-Hakim > Breaston unless you are comparing their entire career vs. Breaston's 2008 season.

Not Hakim or Proehl > Breaston, but both Hakim and Proehl > Breaston.

I.E. having both a pretty good 3rd and 4th receiver is better than having just a 3rd WR, even if the 3rd WR (Breaston) is better individually than Proehl or Hakim

Yes, AZ had a 4th in Urban but he wasn't used too much IIRC.

The Rams routinely went 4 WR - Martz loved to (and still does to the recent horror of Mike Singeltary) play QB suicide - sent everybody downfield, have the quarterback take a deep drop and hope he doesn't get killed before he has a chance to chuck the rock. This style is another reason why the rams line was better at pass blocking than you might first think given their sacks allowed.

    • Oh, I don't know high dollar guys with multiple years of earnings, will invested...enough for multiple lifetimes decide not to play...could it be that this is a cut and paste season, 60 games, made up divisions, basically ST exhibitions...3 to 4 months quarantined with teammates (as I understand it), away from family, none of the going out with teammates to bars and eateries, none of the camaraderie with teams in the clubhouse, dugouts, bullpens....no fans, a pretty crappy working environment IMO...for us this is a game, when you are at that stage of your career it is a business..the joy of the game maybe teammate interaction and not as much the game.
    • My guess is that most players will feel this is a personal decision that each player must make for himself, and that they won’t hold any hard feelings against those who made a different decision than they did.
    • #50THANNIVERSARY On this day in 1970 Jim Palmer tossed a three-hitter for his 12th win of the season as he led the Orioles to a 2-0 shutout of the Detroit Tigers.  Palmer also struck out 7 and walked 3. Palmer allowed singles to Mickey Stanley, Russ Nagelson and Bill Freehan. For the Birds, Don Buford went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and Boog Powell went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. BOX SCORE
    • Wish we could watch AR at C, Diaz in LF, Kjerstad in RF, and Mountcastle at 1B. Who knows what the new player control rules will be anyways.
    • Weird for a guy who posted just tell us when on Twitter.  Anyone who posted that better play.
    • Never thought of computer viruses for Robo imps. I bet the Astros already have guys on this.
    • You would have to ask them their reasoning, but on the outside looking in, if they’ve already got plenty of money, why exert themselves and take the risk, which is very real, for a fractional season that will always have an asterisk on it, even if a team wins the World Series. Yes, Price will be losing ~ $20 million, Trout a bit more, But haven’t they reached the point where it’s just numbers?  The younger guys have tremendous incentive to play, because they are playing for future opportunities. jmho
