Howard Stern show discussion

We should get Liar to break down his mechanics. I'm no pitching expert, but when your hips remain parallel to the rubber, and your elbow stays in front of your hips - well that's textbook "throwing like a girl". Geez...

Bump.

Baba Booey was in town over the weekend catching the O's games on Friday and Saturday night....which led to a brief conversation about Baltimore.

Gary had nice things to say about the city (our beautiful stadium, Inner Harbor, really nice people) and not so nice things (police sirens, ambulances and violence)

Robin talked about a few parts of the city and how she had to be escorted around because it wasn't safe to walk.

Which then led Gary to talk about a story involving a DJ and a 250-lb woman getting up on the bar to dance....:laughlol:

It was cool to hear them talk about Baltimore though.

I thought he really trashed Baltimore. He said a cop told him he should take a cab from the Stadium to the Sheraton, implying that it was too dangerous. Uh, OK.

Given the recent rash of violence down by the harbor, that may not have been a bad idea...

The third of a mile or so from the Stadium to the Sheraton? With 10,000 other people on the street, and 4 cops on every corner? Give me a break.

Unless it was coming from the whole 'celebrity' angle. I know if I saw him, and I was tanked, I might bust his chops a little.

Yeah, I thought it was a tad silly.

I've walked through that area after hundreds of Oriole games and I've NEVER seen anything go down....

I think he was exaggerating just a tad...

Did any one catch the Joe Buck show on HBO last night? Artie was a guest.

Anyway, the show was like a network primetime show. Buck was keeping it very clean and very on-topic. He interviewed Favre. Then they brought out Artie, Paul Rudd, and someone else who slips my mind to talk sports in a loose way. Anyway, Artie starts dropping f-bombs left and right, talking about sex acts acts, and saying f--- the Cowboys and saying that Romo rhymes with you know what.

It felt really out of place on the show, and it was almost embarrassing to see Artie crowbarring it into the show. He's better than that. He's got some amazing stories (like his father throwing him on the field after the '77 World Series). But on the other hand, it was an HBO show... they could be a little more daring.

But after Buck's disgust over the Randy Moss "poop" TD celebration, I wonder how Buck felt about Artie's appearance on the show. He didn't seem to pleased.

Google it. This story is getting some legs to it as being a big deal. Buck sounds genuinely ticked off, and he's not smart enough to be using it for the media attention. Apparently Buck is a huge fan too, so what the heck did he expect?

I didn't hear Artie talk about it on the show this morning, but I have heard that Artie was laying into Buck pretty good and that he was told by HBO to "go crazy" on the show.

Apparently Buck and Artie were on some internet-only show called "The Overtime" and they were going back-and-forth together, so maybe Buck isn't as mad about it as he let on.

Maybe it's all a publicity stunt.

Deadspin has addressed it.

They played the whole thing this morning, including Overtime. Buck did not seem amused, and he got bolder in expressing his displeasure as Overtime went on. Artie had a 'screw you' attitude about it all - they should have known what they were getting.

Edit - found the Overtime video: http://deadspin.com/5292467/watch-artie-lange-crap-all-over-joe-bucks-first-show?autoplay=true?skyline=true&s=i

I love Artie, but he didn't come off good there for the most part, went too far imo. It was certainly interesting and entertaining though, and now that I've heard Artie talk about it on Howard, I don't think it was that bad based on what they seemed to have wanted from him.

In other Artie news, I went to his book signing saturday, that was exciting.

Has anyone else noticed a change in Artie since he's been "clean"?

I am happy he's free of drugs and losing weight, but his whole attitude has been really bad during that time....

Absolutely. Maybe this is just the real him. I'm not really digging it.

I don't really know who this guy is other than being a guy on the Stern show, so I don't have much to go on. But what was his point? It wasn't funny except in an odd Andy Kaufmann kind of way. It obviously made everyone uncomfortable.

Is his regular shtick being mean and cursing? I dunno, I guess people are talking about him. Maybe that was the entire point.
