Live Mock Draft... Monday at 8:30pm

Recommended Posts

Just a heads-up that we will be providing a 'live' mock draft tonight at 8:30pm. All participants will be on at the same time, hence 'live'. The participants will be (at this time) Stotle, crawdad, Allstar1579 and myself. Teams have been divided up amongst us, and we will choose all the way up to the Orioles pick in Round 3... 85th overall.

I'll update this OP as we select, but follow along as each participant will be posting his selction and commentary within the thread - per usual.

We hope you enjoy it...

Greg-

Quickly before this gets going:

1- Are you choosing as to what you would do as the certain team's scouting director and it was up to you to make the pick? Or are you going with what you think the teams will do?

2- I'm assuming this will be the thread to discuss as it goes on? I'd love to chat about this as its going on, perhaps a minor criticism or two (constructive only, of course ;))

Yes, we are choosing who we believe the team will choose, followed up by some short commentary, and if the chooser wishes, a "who I would've taken" mention as well.

Yes, please discuss here. :)

To make things easier to scan . . . perhaps all posts in which folks are drafted are in italics.

That's okay with me... or a color like blue would make it even easier... :)

Sounds good to me. Hmmm, AllStar is sure having a good internal discussion about this.

Excellent. Sounds great, I'll definitely be chiming in throughout. (Especially if Stotle doesn't take the right guy for us :D)

Apparently AllStar is worried about the Nationals screwing something else up.

Is there a StrasbErg or a Strasbor or a Stressberg in this draft? If so, I wouldn't put it past the Nationals to take the wrong guy.

I wonder if the FBI has invaded AllStar's home discovering he has been skimming international bonus money.

1:1 Washington Nationals

Stephen Strasburg RHSP San Diego State.

For me, it's a no brainer for the Nationals who need a face of the franchise, and there are no higher touted guys to start with. While some people will say maybe they should save money, and go over slot in a few other places with so many holes to fill, but by my theory they could draft him, stick him in the minors a year and trade him for a small fortune if they wanted to go that route.

    • I don’t care how old he is.  That said nice find.
    • Did you see Bauer did a tomahawk chop when he left the game? Such an edgelord.
    • Reds imploding in 9th of another 1-0 game; Ozuna beat Day 2 Raisel to make it 3-0 (and ruin the drama of would Braves really use Melancon, 15th on the team in K-BB%, in a 1-run game); now Suarez has dropped a pop up to let Albies get on with a second chance. While I'm generally always rooting for a deciding game, Nick and O'Day are enough for me to be content to get to see them chase that One Shining Moment another week. Will the Reds opening offer to FA Bauer include a stake in franchise ownership?

    • These threads are about the strengths of the organization as a whole at the various positions, not the current strength of the major league team.   I agree grades should not be “completely” based on players in the minors, especially ones who haven’t played an official game above low A.    But the guy was considered to be the easiest 1:1 choice since Harper.    That’s not nothing.
