It's Time: 2010-11 ACC Preview

Recommended Posts

By the way, the Heels are currently the only undefeated team in the ACC.

...I'm as shocked as you are.

(ETA: Not that they ARE undefeated, but that nobody else is. Y'know...like Duke.)

...aaaaaand that lasted about one evening.

Gosh the ACC is really really really bad this year.

College basketball in general isn't that good this year...but yea, the ACC has been a huge disappointment.

If more than three teams get in from the ACC, I'll be shocked. Usually more than one team is at least APPROACHING "lock status, barring a meltdown"-ville, but wow. Just...wow.

Nice win for Florida State tonight. This is a really good team. They absolutely lock people down and with Singleton, Kitchen, Dulkys, Loucks, Snaer and their array of big men on the interior, I think they have emerged as the clear cut #2 behind Duke in the ACC.

I still think 5 teams get in from the ACC. Maybe 6, but probably 5.

Hi.

Remember me?

Here come the Heels.

Yep..starting to play well and their ACC schedule is pretty favorable the rest of the way, outside of the 2 Duke games.

Could be another season like last year where 2 teams win 13+ ACC games.

Really starting to come together, as "The Epic" pointed out to me on Facebook, Marshall and Drew combined for 15 assists and only 3 turnovers tonight. That's huge.

Can't wait to play Duke next week, and see how far we've come.

I regret that UNC doesn't have any more games outside of the ACC. There won't really be a gauge of how good they are until (hopefully?) the Tourney. Duke's a great team, but they're still in a down ACC.

I'll say one thing, our buzzer beating loss to Texas a few months ago looks much better now the way the Horns have been playing.

    • Would be cool if he got a hit.
    • Those day-to-day strains sometimes need major surgery.
    • Love to see a guy say "the hell with switch-hitting because I suck hitting right-handed". Wish more athletes were that honest with themselves. He might come to find out he's not that bad at hitting left on left. Certainly did well yesterday. I like Ruiz. I don't mind the times he doesn't hit all that well, but last year he also started to slip defensively at times. I pegged him as a possible DFA candidate if someone like Jones manages to win the 2B job, moving Sanchez to 3B. But that feels like a longshot the more I think about it. Ruiz probably has at least a half year left in him as the 3B placeholder before the O's decide to call some guys up (Bannon? Jones? Martin?).
    • Same amount of World Championships as The Earl. Just saying.  Mike Boddicker and Tippy were the keys, in my memory.
    • Hell, just have complex Leagues then in Florida and Arizona if travel is going to be an issue early on.  It shouldn't be a problem now, but this zero risk culture we are being forced to live in now makes every league scared to do anything.  But, considering how late they made the decisions on the new leagues it's not overly surprising that MLB is slow to make decisions on the minor leagues.  We live in a goofy world right now.
    • No predictions here. Just an open mind and a little hope.  It seems as though both have been written off by many to some extent.  Ruiz as a placeholder until we can get something better and Mullins as a 4th outfielder.  I think Ruiz has shown that he can be a solid/average defensive 3B, has good AB's, and has shown flashes of power.  He hasn't put it together yet and possibly never will but I think he has a chance.  In Mullins' case he offers potential plus defense in CF, speed and a little pop.  It will be interesting to see what he will do as a straight LH hitter now.  I like each players games and I'm rooting for both.  The book isn't closed on these two.
