I'm out tonight watching a band and not sure about tomorrow yet. I'd like to see them get to 90 wins but other than that, just keep everyone healthy and sharp.

Short left-hander with very questionable command and a 92 MPH fastball. Sweeper can sometimes be good and is where he gets most of swings and misses. If he can get more into the mid-90s maybe a reliever prospect, but I just don't see enough velocity to offset the lack of command. Gets a lot of swing and miss on chase.

I do think his defense has been very good in LF and is probably closer to the 11 OAA vs the -0.3 dWAR. Still, I just know how voting tends to go on these things. To me, Gil is more worthy.

Taking my Orioles bias out of the loop, it should be Gil and it shouldn't be close. Cowser had a nice season, and he's ending it off good, but Gil has 15 wins, a +126 ERA, and has been worth 3.5 rWAR to Cowser's 2.9 rWAR. Plus he's struck out a sexy 166 in 146 innings going into tonight.

I think it depends on when they think he would be eligible to return. If they could get him on a split major-minor league deal so he doesn't take up a 40-man spot I don't think they should be opposed to resigning him. AS this year showed us. You can never have too much starting pitching.

I was thinking that myself. No reason not to be able to take one of the last two games from an eliminated Twins team to get that mark. Let's hope they get it tonight so they don't have to worry about it tomorrow. In the big game of things it doesn't matter, but it's a nice mark to make, especially after their 2nd half.

It really is strange for a kid who has been playing baseball his entire life, comes from a professional baseball family, and has been given every tool to make himself the best player he can be, still be so fundamentally unsound in so many aspects of the game.
