Grade the Orioles’ draft
clapdiddy replied to Frobby's topic in O's Amateur Draft and International Signings
B+ from me. I think they did pretty well, picking a lot of athletes and pitching. I'm anxious to see these guys get started. -

Can't disagree about this. If he said he'd sign for 2M, they offer it and he backs out, that's on him and his rep.- 109 replies

If Baumeister has the great stuff that is reported, I'd much rather have him at 2.1 than Ritchie at any price.- 109 replies

I know this probably isn't much of a factor, but how would attendance increase with Ohtani in the lineup?
-
Well...it wasn't meant to be backhanded. I think he's a good starter. And I do agree with what Frobby said about him starting a playoff game. He seems to find a way to keep the team in the game.
-
Do you ever wonder where they find these stats? Good for Kremer. I like him and think he's a nice back of the rotation starter.
-
So, I'm not watching the game...he throws two fastballs to get ahead 0-2, then dicks around with a bunch of crap to allow the guy to get back in the count? How many times does this guy have to do this? I blame that on McCann. Show the hitter a slider on 0-2, then go back to the hard stuff. It seems like this happens to Baker EVERY FREAKING TIME.

What are the pillars of modern baseball statistics?

Personally, I like OPS for hitters and WHIP, K/9, BB/9, HR/9 for pitchers and WAR for both. I'm a simple kind of guy. Or...am I a simpleton? -
If Elias trades for two more relievers, which two would you replace?
clapdiddy replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
Is it possible that Wells Is moved to the pen and another starter and Reliever are acquired. That's two short outings in a row. He seemed to lose his command pretty ubruptly today. -
You are correct! Originally, I just looked at his overall numbers, but dove into them a bit afterwards. Pretty excited about this addition to the pen.
-
Yes...the BK ads are horrible. I actually find the Wendy's commercials kind of funny.

What are your expectations by the trade deadline?
clapdiddy replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
I think another thing to factor in...do they move Wells to the bullpen? If they do, the focus could be switched to solely a starter. Even if Wells moves to the pen, I still think they could do a starter and another solid LH reliever. -

I agree wholeheartedly, Greg. The post @Sports Guy made in the "Specific Trade Ideas" thread mentions that Bowden thinks the Orioles are going to deal from their depth and NOT their top prospects. I think it's smart. I don't see them going after Ohtani or another big name that will cost them a ton of prospects. I think acquiring Fujinama was smart for what they gave up. I see another starter acquisition down the road and hopefully another lefty out of the pen. -
Can't argue with this...
-
Does he have options? Can he be sent him to Norfolk for some "fine tuning"?
-
Beat me to it!
-
Looks like Easton Lucas is the lucky guy going to Oakland.

Am I supposed to be excited by this?
