I think its great to have this versatility. After this season (possibly sooner), Frazier and Mateo will be gone. It's nice to have three guys that can play shortstop efficiently, with another in the wings.

I haven't seen this Ober guy pitch. I'm only watching play by play on ESPN. It doesn't look like he throws that hard. What makes him so "unhittable"?

I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, but do you think Cowser's output could equal what Hays has done up to this point? He might not hit for as high of an average, but I'd bet for a better OBP with maybe slightly less SLG%. If you could turn Hays into a pitcher who will be around for a couple of years, it may be worth it...and I don't think the output from LF would suffer that much...if at all.
