  1. You make a great point. I just hope what happened with Machado doesn't happen with these two and any other potential stars in the future. They knew Manny was going to test the market and they held onto him a year too long.
  2. Exactly. If I were Elias, I'd look to get both of these guys into deals ASAP, as the price just keeps escalating. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that any type of extension is going to get done with the current ownership situation.
  3. The thing I don't like about these contracts is how it will affect Gunnar and Adley. I know that's down the road a bit, but are they ever going to be able to lock these guys up with the crazy contracts right now?
  4. So much for this idea. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/12/giants-sign-ross-stripling.html
  5. The big question is...how much would the Orioles sell for right now?
  6. I like this idea...particularly if they can pick him up for a lower-level prospect and just taking on his salary.
  7. I hope that they prove me wrong and go after Eovaldi. I think the O's need another proven starter.
  8. Good question. They are probably looking for a trade of some sorts. Can't afford anything over 10M/season.
  9. With the price of pitching, this doesn't seem horrible.
  10. I still like Benintendi, but not for 4 years.
  11. This would be kind of interesting, but would we want to take a chance on him? The contract isn't horrible, and he has an opt out after 2023.
  12. I would definitely be interested in Rodon...but it sounds like they aren't going to spend that kind of money/years, that's why I didn't include him.
  13. I'll answer. Bassitt Eovaldi On a one-year deal: Cueto Syndergaard (incentive-laden deal only)
  14. One would think. I don't know if this is just Roch conjecturing, or if it's something he's hearing. Either way, it shouldn't be something that's out there for public knowledge.
  15. Agreed. Stowers should be in the lineup as much as possible. I see Vavra as a utility guy, so that doesn't bother me as much, though I'd like to see him used more as well. One line that sticks out to me and seems to be commonplace with our Birds: "Jameson Taillon received four years from the Cubs (for $68 million), and the Orioles are believed to have offered less. The upper layer of the second tier might unexpectedly be out of reach." I'm tired of hearing this. It doesn't need to be said. Any Orioles fan is not shocked that the payroll isn't going to compete with NY or LA. I can't imagine that Elias went into this offseason thinking salaries were going to remain the same on these players.
  16. I didn't see the interview and appreciate your summary. The second paragraph begs the question...who is our "one year" guy?
  17. Is there any chance the Orioles could be in on one or both of the Japanese League players? I realize there's a posting fee for these guys, and I'm not even sure if any team is showing interest.
  18. If they truly did offer this deal and Correa turned it down, they better not "sweeten" it. Seven years is way too long as it is.
  19. I'm really waiting for the day in the 2023 season when Cordero AND Mazara are in the lineup for the O's in the same game.
  20. Hey...there's still the Rule V coming up...
  21. I didn't think that policy was still around.
