  1. Mayo plays 3B, but he’s gotten limited time at 1B. He will never play 2B. Norby doesn’t play either SS or CF. He’s been almost exclusively 2B and LF in the minors.
  2. Not to mention there’s already a Delmarva 2024 thread where thier struggles are already being talked about…
  3. The O’s were going to “lose” the money used to sign him as he was the last remaining unsigned player in his draft year, but yeah…pretty disappointing so far. He didn’t look like he had any special tools when I saw him play in spring training this year.
  4. Well, #5 in his 2nd AB… Both solo shots.
  5. Mayo with HR number 4 tonight in his 1st AB. Just a “regular” homer, not some 110+ mph rocket shot this time.
  6. Kjerstad with a HR in his 1st AB tonight. His 7th.
  7. For those that can’t or don’t want to sub with Apple - even with the free promo - any good streaming sites tucked into a corner of the WWW, or does Apple keep that stuff locked down really good?
  8. Last one is a bummer. Hope it’s not the foot/ankle problems again that plagued him all last year. Talked to him at Twin Lakes about 3 weeks ago and he said he was good to go.
  9. JH wearing number 7 is an obvious ode to Ripken Sr as well as to his dad. But there was another famous player who also hailed from Oklahoma just like the Holliday family that also donned #7. Mickey Mantle.
  10. Like in the quote above from Dykstra, I keep seeing the industry experts saying Mayo is a below avg runner. Watching him live in person and on TV many times, I’m not seeing it. Fangraphs have him at 50 grade speed though MLB.com has him at 40. While he’s obviously no EBJ, for someone who’s 6’ 5” 230lbs, he runs well and pretty fluidly with athletic movement. He’s not some clumsy clunker that clogs up the base paths and trips over his feet while playing 3B defensively. He can go 1st to 3rd on hits you’d expect a base runner to and score from 2nd as well on base knocks. I’m betting Dykstra probably had him pinned to 1B for some time now so is probably just sticking to his projection in hopes he’s ultimately proved right.
  11. Now that the draft and follow rule is back, that’s a big part of it.
  12. Same could be said of Orioles pitchers too. Means, Bautista, Bradish (whatever his outcome is…I’m not holding my breath) plus we had several minor leaguers that have gone under the knife this spring. I think the science is far from being settled.
  13. The Charlotte play by play guy said in the 8th inning that, as he’s mentioned before (which infers they’ve been in this position several times ), he’s in support of a 10 run mercy rule after 7th inning. Thats a horrible idea btw. This is not little league.
  14. I said this in another thread but they could probably take a series from 4 or 5 current big league clubs.
  15. Ah, thanks. Was thinking it was in Chicago for some reason.
  16. They may wait this one out for a while and get the game in. Seems like there may be an opportunity to play soon. KC has a game in Chitown tomorrow but it’s not until 635 CST. A lot of bad weather there as well that may linger into tomorrow.
  17. Doesn’t help for ‘24, but BAL will likely get most of that Burnes money back in ‘25 via the FA QO comp pick they’ll almost certainly get for him. So losing that money up front isn’t a huge deal. Plus the ‘25 draft is supposed to be stronger than ‘24 anyway. I’d rather have more assets for that draft class anyway.
  18. LOL…mere minutes later, he strikes again. “Irvin has now retired 7 in a row”. Seconds later, Irvin throws ball four and ends the streak.
  19. Kevin Brown jinx strikes again. Proclaimed pre game that the Royals 7-9 hitters had yet to reach base all season. We all know what happened after that. It’s amazing how he seems to speak some things right into existence, both good and bad.
  20. This thread should be merged, locked or at bare minimum, have the title modified to something a little less click-baity. So many other places this has been discussed on the board.
  21. Without double checking, I think that’s right. Starting to see some of these international trees bear fruit, which is great. Delmarva can be make or break for many of these players, but I think we have a much more talented group passing through this year, so expectations are probably a little higher. Also, no such thing as an international draft. Yet, anyway. There is talk of establishing one.
  22. I spoke to Cunningham for a couple minutes the last day I was at Twin Lakes. He said he’s 100% healthy and the foot injury is all behind him. He’s a guy I’d expect to move up quickly, assuming he performs well of course.
  23. I think you could easily say the same for Aberdeen too. Very interesting pitchers there in Baumeister, Baumler, Sharkey and De Los Santos. Yaqui Rivera is young and has a good arm too. He was with the big club for several ST games, seeing action in only one though I think.
  24. The fact that he’s playing anywhere other than 2B at Norfolk tells you exactly what’s going on here, especially when you consider what Elias said was one of the reasons for him not heading north to OPACY…that he needed more experience playing defense at 2B. Hyde saying they’ll keep him warm or whatever at SS is purely lip service for the service time manipulation cover they are running.
  25. Came here to say a similar thing. He knows he has eyes on his defense and is letting the pressure get to him. It’s for sure mental…just thinking too much. Too many crow hops and doesn’t look very fluid in his throwing motion. Hopefully he can quickly push through this and put it behind him.
