  1. I read something about Marsh that made me think he was a cool guy, but now I forget what it was. Like he drove a Chevette, or he wrote Icelandic poetry.
  2. I think the value this time of year (if you can call it that) has shifted to the perceived too expensive to trade, older, on the downhill arc of their career trajectory. Everyone, even the teams out of contention, are looking to arbitrage prospects into MLB youth with control.
  3. I can actually see this happening. It makes a lot of sense for us. Because of the rental aspect we would be getting him at a bargain. Plus it’s not an insane idea that we sign him. This is the type of move the Dodgers make, but Moreno is not sending Ohtani to the Dodgers.
  4. Manfred has been on a fix since 2021: Back in 2021, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said fixing the problem of blackout restrictions in Iowa was a top priority. Yet, here we are in 2023 without a solution. https://dailyiowan.com/2023/04/09/opinion-mlb-needs-to-get-rid-of-blackout-restrictions/ But the recent collapse of several RSN’s seems to actually be pushing MLB to some sort of new blackout free universal streaming model. I am not exactly holding my breath.
  5. Mateo has his time left on this team clicking in his head.
  6. That’s the groundskeeper Pat Santarone. As far as I know, all the green he cultivated was completely above board.
  7. This is what his defense was like last year for the Dodgers. Largely mediocre interspersed with inexplicable errors.

  9. I like the starter idea better than getting a stud reliever or two. Come crunch time it will be all hands on deck anyway.
  10. There are at least 12 GMs waking up at 3AM after a panic dream thinking a similar thing. By 9AM half of them have had their wheatgrass smoothie and are resigned to rolling with what they have or finding a live arm with lots of questions. Getting those two “reliable” relievers this time of year is perhaps the most expensive thing in MLB, and like anything super expensive there is often disappointment.
  11. I couldn’t take me eyes off of Ced’s gams. Mookie has chicken legs by comparison.
