  1. Also, prospect grades were dynamic and subjective enough even before the COVID year. I’d rather be near the top of BA’s rank than the bottom, but I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over our exact rank. Plus jumping to the head of a prospect list is the easy part. Consistently fielding a playoff capable MLB team over a couple decades or so is the hard part.
  2. Rio Ruiz verbally committed to USC when he was 14. Can you still do that?.... Whatever a verbal commitment means? Although it seems to be real thing in the Dominican Republic.
  3. That thing was smacked. Not sure how it didn’t go farther. He must have put some action on it.
  4. I was “working” while listening to the game. Santander told me it’s quitting time!
  5. I am still adjusting to all the new people, in part because I watch over the MLB app and I frenetically switch between the TV, radio, home/away feeds so everyone kinda blurs together (particularly after a few beers). I think Ben is awesome on color. I like Melanie the best so far on play by play. Her even, steady, slow, accurate calls are a classic style. I find her voice pleasing. Sure, she could work on the excitement a bit perhaps, but I think it is better to grow into excitement than to come to the door with it. She will find her signature call. She has the most upside of the lot I think.
  6. I agree, although I am more forgiving. This was an egregious case. Presumably (knock on wood) something this bad wouldn’t happen in the playoffs. Although, as was brought up in the game thread, it does kinda seem like the frequency of really atrocious umpiring has gone up. Not sure if that is true, or if it is true why that might be. I am still in the human frailties camp. I don’t care that every ball/strike call is correct. I like ambiguity, idiosyncrasies, having to adjust on the fly, and the occasional horrible injustice inflicted by an indifferent universe. For me, an omnipresent robo ump would be less fun than having to discuss an occasionally atrocious human one.
  7. Yeah, it feels that way to me too. I wonder if it is real?
  8. Well, it worked out in the end.
  9. That shirt is complex. I think I see a whale’s nether regions in it.
  10. I was going to say it was like a Renoir, but that implies calm enjoyment. Maybe a Jackson Pollock?
  11. Hanser has met his kryptonite
  12. That last pitch to McCutchen wasn’t exactly impressive.
  13. Yikes that was a nasty pitch to K Hays
  14. There might be no winners, but someone always loses.
