  1. Mayo's also hitting .094, incl. two singles in 15 ABs since being recalled. Holliday has also been worse than O'Hearn and Jiminez and Slater have cooled off. Lots of problems in the lineup and scapegoating O'Hearn is not a solution.
  2. He tried (2 RBIs) and I think there's a good chance Mountcastle would have caught the throw Rivera was charged with an error for. Is there a better first baseman on the club?
  3. And after a while, pointing out various reasons why the team loses, such as weak defense or benig short-handed in the pen, even though legit, begin to sound like a tired excuse. Problems like the infield flubbing easy plays or having the wrong relievers on the mound in crucial situations--seems solvable, not something wildly, mysteriously beyond one's control.
  4. If he keeps this up--and this last start's accomplished pitch repertoire shows he may actually up his game--and the Orioles go to the Series, Mr. Suarez is going to be one of the big MLB stories of 2024.
  5. Hold the Mayo until next year--I actually want to win games. He's got 3 singles in 32 ABs, zero RBIs, and 16 Ks.
  6. We're trying to win a division and yet people think it's a fine time to keep trotting out an unproven rookie who has gone 1 for 17 with 10 Ks and 2 for 15 with 6 Ks in his two stints, all of the hits singles and ZERO RBIs, over a much more experienced 3rd baseman who is a better fielder and has gone 7 for 25 with a double, triple, homer, 5 RBIs, and 8 less Ks since being picked up from the waiver wire. Just go with Emmanuel Rivera until Urias or Westberg return!
  7. What a gift Suarez has been to the O's--after six years away from MLB! Now second on the club in innings pitched despite being a reliever most of May.
  8. D. L. Hall is back and has allowed only 1 ER in 15.2 innings, incl. two starts and one four-inning relief appearance: 8 H, 6 BB, 20 K, 1 HR.
  9. Yes, you don't get away with that stuff in the postseason.
  10. During those 10 scoreless games: 9.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 11 K.
  11. I really think it's time he got benched.
  12. Please allow me to spell it out a bit more in the hope of ameliorating your confusion. Hyde, by using the Oriole "we," is confessing that, yes, he also "didn't play good baseball,""didn't put the ball in play enough," and should be held accountable for not playing "with more energy [and] intensity." Ithink the odds are good that he won't be in the starting lineup in the upcoming series.
  13. Also runs intelligently and well, incl. sharp turns at the bases, and can steal.
  14. .365 career OBP v. LHP! With lots more walks and stolen bases, and a little less power than Hays (vs. LHP, that is).
  15. Yeah BUT if you compare their last two games, Big Advantage-Nastrini with potential for upsetting the Os: Nastrini: 10.1 IP, only 5 hits, 2 ER (both on homers, but yes 6 BBs)--vs. RSox and Rangers. Povich: 8.1 IP, 18 hits, 10 ER (2 HR, 3 BBs)--vs. Astros and Dodgers.
