  1. I wish it was a better roster but what is happening should not be surprising. We hired someone who was part of the Astros organization that took an approach that ended up with 416 losses over a 4 year period including one season with a payroll that was $24m or less than Alex Rodriguez was being paid. Not unexpected that a similar approach might be taken in Baltimore. Best case scenario is likely several years of really bad baseball where hopefully as time passes more prospects are inserted until at some point they turn the table and the team is ready to compete.. At that point hopefully Elias will be given the flexibility to do what Houston did - ramp up payroll once a foundation was in place. If they weren't willing to accept the pain and tried to sign a bunch of middling veterans to try and avoid being noncompetitive they could have missed out on the opportunity to draft guys like Corea and Bergman and may not have a WS win and be the perennial contender they are now.
