  1. Very irritated.. Was looking forward to this game.. Had to step away.. Those 2 in the booth absolutely suck.
  2. No idea how reliable this person is : https://twitter.com/GenerallyManage/status/1733895194758504911?t=97tEnvhtGRCQW1U116d6iQ&s=19

  5. Add Matt Moore to the list of claims by the Guardians.
  6. https://www.masnsports.com/blog/updating-some-injured-and-rehabbing-orioles-pitchers "Johnson, the organization’s No. 16 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is expected to pitch in the FCL this weekend to start his injury rehab assignment. He hasn’t faced batters since May 20, 2022 with High-A Bowling Green." "Johnson’s stay in the FCL could be brief. The Orioles want him at Single-A Delmarva before the season ends."
  7. Based on this tweet, it looks like the Orioles were in the middle of the pack when it comes to the # of pitchers drafted. Highest # of outfielders drafted though.
  8. Looks like Riley Cooper will sign. https://twitter.com/LVann_Sports/status/1678908523655118855?s=20 https://twitter.com/lsu_capital/status/1678908989872979972?s=20
  9. https://www.mlb.com/news/breakout-prospect-candidates-2023?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Orioles: Samuel Basallo, C (No. 11) After years of staying away from making big international signings, the O’s made a splash by adding Basallo for $1.3 million in January 2021. Two years later, he’s shown the above-average power and plus arm to move up to Single-A Delmarva at just 18 years old and could rocket in his first taste of full-season ball. “I think he’s going to be challenged there,” said Orioles director of player development Matt Blood. “We know that it's a year of development. Obviously performance matters, but for us, he’s going to be 18 years old at that level, and we know that that will come with challenges. That's what development is all about. So for us, this is going to be a really productive year for him regardless of the exact numbers that he produces.”
  10. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/50-prospects-standing-out-to-scouts-in-2023-spring-training/ Chayce McDermott, RHP, Orioles McDermott was Houston’s fourth-rounder in 2019 out of Ball State who was subsequently dealt to the Orioles as part of the three-team swap that helped Trey Mancini land with the Astros. The righthander struggled a bit last year upon reaching Double-A, where he allowed too much contact and too many walks. On the backfields this spring, he’s shown a promising mix of a mid-90s fastball that has peaked at 98 mph as well as a slider and a curveball that each flashed average potential. There’s a changeup in the mix as well, but it is a distinct fourth pitch. McDermott’s longer arm stroke may hinder his command, but his raw stuff is enough for him to remain intriguing.
  11. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/dylans-prospect-breakout-team-for-2023/ OF Dylan Beavers, Orioles High-A Aberdeen • Age: 21 With plus grades for power, speed and arm strength, Beavers has a high floor and the ability to play any outfield position. If he could approach even an average hit tool, he would be a potential offensive monster. After drafting him in the supplemental first round, the Orioles altered Beavers' swing, and the returns were immediate: his contact rate, in-zone contact rate and ability to lay off pitches out of the zone were all above-average to plus when compared to his peers in the Carolina League. More impressively, in a small pro sample, Beavers managed to hit 16% of his batted balls at 95 mph or harder between a launch angle of 10 and 30 degrees—optimal hard contact—which was well above the league average of 11%. Beavers has a chance to advance to the cozy confines of Double-A Bowie by year’s end as a 21-year-old. LHP Juan Rojas, Orioles Extended spring training • Age: 19 I’m going off the beaten path for this pitcher spot. Part of the Orioles' return from the Twins for Jorge Lopez, Rojas already shows advanced control of three pitches as a teenager. As he matures, his fastball could develop into an above-average pitch. Purely from a data perspective, Rojas looked like one of the more impressive Rookie complex league pitchers last year with a strikeout-to-walk ratio not much different than that of more well-known Jarlin Susana. The Orioles' pitcher development apparatus has been excellent, and I expect them to refine Rojas’ abilities. Look for Rojas to join Low-A Delmarva after he is built up at extended spring training.
  12. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2023-mlb-international-prospect-preview-million-dollar-shortstops/ Luis Almeyda, SS, Dominican Republic Team: Orioles Almeyda was well known from an early age on the college recruiting trail when he was growing up in New Jersey. While he could have had his pick among some of the top college programs in the country, he instead moved to the Dominican Republic and will sign for what should be a bonus above $2 million as an international free agent. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Almeyda has a long, lanky build with righthanded power that has started to spike as he's begun to fill out, typically putting together solid at-bats with a mature approach for his age. Almeyda has smooth actions and is light on his feet at shortstop, where he has a chance to stick, though depending on how much more he grows he could end up at third base.
  13. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/hot-sheet-baseballs-20-hottest-prospects-from-the-past-week-83022/ 13. Jud Fabian, OF, Orioles Team: Low-A Delmarva (Carolina) Age: 21 Why He’s Here: .348/.423/.826 (8-for-23), 8 R, 1 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBIs, 3 BB, 7 SO The Scoop: After a strong 10 games at the Low-A level, Fabian was promoted Monday to High-A Aberdeen. Last week Fabian had a hit in all five games he played in and an extra-base hit in four out of the five. He had two multi-hit games and three games where he reached base three times. He hit eight balls in play at 95-plus mph last week, with three balls over 100 mph that all went for extra bases. Fabian has shown power and on-base ability early in his professional career, as expected. How Fabian handles more advanced competition will be interesting to watch over the final few weeks of this season and early next spring, as his strikeout issues at Florida were well documented. (GP)
  14. I like the idea that Elias just added 15 pitchers to our minor league system (thru the draft and trades) within the last 3 weeks.
  15. I like Brooks Lee, but I am very concerned about his history of injuries in high school and college : https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2022-mlb-draft-top-prospects/ Lee’s only major concern is his health. He missed time with multiple back injuries in high school and had hamstring surgery as a true freshman. His physical, maxed-out frame raises concerns about how his body will age.
  16. This guy suggests the following : Cowser, Hall, Henderson, Mayo, Mullins, and Westburg for Corbin, Soto, and $25m.
  17. #1 overall draft pick? No way.. #33 draft pick? Maybe...
  18. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2022-mlb-draft-buzz-the-orioles-plans-at-number-1-college-catchers-rising-and-more/ Wesleyan (Suwanee, Ga.) High outfielder Druw Jones has separated himself as the clear-cut top prospect in this year’s draft, but industry officials believe the Orioles were targeting Louisiana State third baseman Jacob Berry for an under-slot deal with the No. 1 pick before Berry suffered a broken finger in his right hand during practice last week. Berry’s injury has created lots of uncertainty about what the Orioles will now do with the top overall pick. Jones is expected to command a full slot bonus, but the Orioles have the largest bonus pool in the draft at $16.924 million and can afford to pay it.
  19. I am wondering if the Orioles would be interested in either Kumar Rocker (assuming he is healthy) or Jud Fabian if they are available at either Competitive Balance Picks or in the 2nd round.
  20. Interesting interview with Keith Law. He talks about the arrival of the Orioles top prospects at around the 10:30 mark. Around the 30:45 mark, he discusses the draft. He believes Jones separated himself from everyone else and that Tamarr Johnson is not the #2 prospect. Also mentions that Dylan Lesko is hurt.
