  1. It's just too much swing and miss. Swinging at balls outside the strike zone. It's not what this team is going to be moving forward. People were confused by the Frazier signing but that's who they want, he might not put up any numbers but he always gives a good at bat and makes a pitcher work. He won't bail a guy out who is struggling, Mountcastle will. His power is good, but it's not enough to offset his flaws. I see him being a sub .250 hitter with a .300 OBP, for that I need 40 homers and I just don't see it, especially in this ballpark. Ideally, he would be better off hitting lower in the lineup but we don't have more viable options yet. I can live with he does if he's hitting 6/7 as opposed to 3/4. A player with his BB/SO ratio typically does not get better. It usually gets worse as guys age.
  2. Brandon Nimmo. Then trade your OF depth for starting pitching. This lineup would benefit from a guy with a career .385 OBP.
  3. We need to wait and see what Mateo does offensively the rest of the year. We always hear about his work ethic and the amount of time he puts in so I want to see if his last 18 games are just a hot streak or something closer to what he can do. Power won't play as much in OPACY so I would look at Turner in comparison to Correa. Turner likely won't cost as much and he could probably be had for a shorter contract, granted he is two years older. He may be more versatile as well since he has played some 2B. I could see him in the #2 hole adding more speed to get Adley better pitches to hit as he settles into the heart of the lineup. IT might seem crazy to sign a middle infielder with the talent we have in the minors but this would just give you depth to trade away to acquire pitching. Westburg likely will have his highest value this offseason and he is the one who I would trade due to his streakiness, low walks and high K's. It looks like teams may have made an adjustment after his hot start at AAA as in his last 112 AB's he is hitting .196 with 35 K's.
  4. Maybe the bunt and stolen base will be useful again if it keeps up. Or maybe guys will try to make contact instead of striking out 150 times a year. Baseball always finds a way to balance itself out, I just hope MLB doesn't panic.
  5. I am not saying that they shouldn't have cut bait with Davis long ago, but as of today there is no reason they shouldn't look at him through spring training. And they will probably keep him into the start of the year just hoping he gets it back. If he does, then it's great. If he doesn't then guys are having to earn their way up for a few months and the O's are buying some service time.
  6. I think Wilkerson has value, just not with our current club. I really like him in the NL as long as they still let the pitcher hit. He can play multiple positions, has a little pop, and can move around the bases. He can pinch hit when you are looking for a homer.
  7. I agree, I think he's earned it based on his year last year. Also, it seemed like he re-signed this offseason rather quickly. So fast in fact that I felt like he knew he would have a role this year.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised that after no other team claims him the Yankees don't even want to buy him back and he stays with the organization.
