  1. I wouldn’t think anybody has much more than 5 starts so far. Still tons of players in camp
  2. Agree 100% with the Povich assessment. I just don’t see major league stuff at all and I’ve seen him multiple times. Kind of reminds me of a tad harder throwing Brian Matusz. Hope I’m dead wrong
  3. Also have to remember we’re a much bigger player in the Caribbean market now
  4. Positions at this age don’t mean much, so much can change with the maturation process. Plus you want the best athletes
  5. Impressive day for Mordan yesterday. Hit the ball hard 4 out of 5 AB's, got robbed by the Braves 3rd baseman on a great play or would've had 4 hits. Haven't seen him catch, played 1st yesterday. Deleon has some serious life on his fastball, hit 96 multiple times and was sustaining it all the way to the 5th inning. He needs some work on his command, but with his frame and a little better use of his lower body in his delivery, I believe he might be able to add more velocity. For people hoping for a resurgence from M Hernandez, didn't see anything yesterday suggesting it's on the horizon. Stowers looks like he's ready to get back to Norfolk, lined both hits to right with authority
  6. Why are people obsessed with the way he looks? The kid can hit, just enjoy watching him play.
  7. Looks like Wagner is getting his legs. In May 286/412/619 with 4 HR's could be turning the hot corner
  8. This and he seems to struggle with off speed stuff either side. Yesterday Nolin was a crafty lefty and really had the Tides off balance. These are the games I watch closely and realize there is still a learning curve for these hitters, although the numbers look really good
  9. Agree with bpilk here. This would be a good time to swap Westburg for Gunnar, just for a breather and Westburg deserves a shot
  10. Another nice start from Rom. 5IP 2H 0R 2BB and 5K. He’s definitely going to get some consideration the way the current starters are going
  11. I don't see his stuff playing as a starter. He doesn't have the command and his stuff ticks down while starting. I say he's going to be a bullpen arm and he'll be able to just let loose. Hopefully, he can become a little more consistent than Tanner Scott.
  12. I'm sure you have, but one thing to consider on these strike/ball ratios is some of these minor league umps are very inconsistent at best.
  13. Tonight's game between the Tides and Durham is free on MILB.tv
  14. I think Stowers could easily go in a deal. He’s a nice potential bat, but eye test wise for me, not a good baseball player. Maybe some team would tap into the offensive potential there and make a deal.
  15. This is the Cowser thread, no?
  16. I don’t think it was in any way derogatory to Rutschman, more so to all the ridiculous questions they get asked night in and night out. I think any irritation would be directed to the media. JMO
  17. Holliday definitely looks the part of a 1:1. No weaknesses in his game I could see. Ripped the single to right that everyone has seen and tried to ambush the pitcher in his last at bat after Servideo had walked on 4 pitches, he got under it and skied an infield popup. One thing I noticed, when on base he took a very aggressive lead on a sneaky lefty that almost picked him off. The steal was a decent jump, but I will say the catcher double clutched on the throw. All in all the most polished player I've seen since I've been coming to these FCL games and that includes Henderson. Id also like to say Rojas one of the pitchers we got for Lopez looked very poised and has pitchability, kind of reminded me a little of Nelson Cortes. He is very deliberate though, especially when he had his only base runner. It'll be interesting to see how his stuff plays at the higher levels
  18. That’s what I was hoping for, I’ll be there
  19. My point isn’t actually about the money per se. Just on that individual, they maybe could’ve took a shot at some other projects. I’m all for spending the allotted amount
  20. I understand that completely, I guess they basically went on his size and hoped for maturing and development. I just would’ve liked to see a little less cash.
  21. Watched the FCL team yesterday and as usual not a lot of good going on, but will try and throw in some positivity to this bad group. The one player that had some good AB's was V Gonzalez. Saw he was brought up June 5th and before yesterday was a dismal 0 for 18, but did have 10 walks to 9 K's which is encouraging. Yesterday he looked as good as anyone in the box and got his first couple of hits, maybe just maybe it's the start of something. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I know I'll be watching his progress thru the rest of the season. I really can't understand how the Orioles gave M Hernandez over a million dollars to sign. I've seen him quite a few times and there isn't anything that would make me think he deserved anywhere near that kind of money, offensively or defensively. I guess that was a big swing and a miss.
