  1. If I had to put money on it, I'd say no. But no sense in being a doom and gloomer. I'll continue to hope for the best.
  2. Irvin was a turd of an acquisition at the start. He actually pitched very well for us in the 2nd half. I think people forget that.
  3. Of course. So, another reason why that argument doesn't make sense.
  4. 1/3 is indeed a significant number. I think the argument was the statement all pitchers should just get TJ surgery from the start. Which they should not, for various reasons, including this stat.
  5. Meh. I've learned to take defensive MiLB reports, both positive and negative, with a pretty big grain of salt.
  6. First few days of ST are always a "hold your breath" sort of deal. Inevitably there are players that either have been dealing with an injury or get injured as they start to ramp up. I think in this instance unfortunately the injured players just happen to be all really important ones.
  7. The interviewer brought up Woodruff, Tim was just responding to the question.
  8. It's subjective of course but I agree with SG. I think Stowers is pretty much forgotten by most. Norby may be in a tougher spot in terms of PT but I think people at least see/recognize that. That said - I don't think I'd give him a chance over Cowser/Kjerstad just because. Maybe in the past to see what we had with him but those days are gone right now. We should be playing whoever we think gives the team the best chance to win.
  9. I saw Orioles Classics on today. It was another game from the Braves series in the Covid year. The ones they showed during every rain delay this year.
  10. I think 3 is the real key. Gunnar proved to be a pretty terrific SS, or at least better than I had expected him to be. Especially with his arm, he's able to do some things there that most SS can't. I think that changed the equation for Holiday a bit.
  11. To put their own stamp on things. They might not even be aware of who Elias is. They might just think the Orioles have mostly sucked and now we're in charge so we're going to mix things up. And we must be the smartest people to do it because we're super-rich. Don't underestimate the pride factor with some folks.
  12. Peter Angelos has not been in the public eye for some time. By most accounts he's mentally incapacitated to the point that he can't run the team. John has been present a bit more through the last year. He would certainly get roundly booed. I'm not sure he knows that though. I've never really felt the ire for the family. Peter certainly did some things to try at times but was in way over his head. Like Jerry Jones, but not willing to keep spending the money. His meddling certainly set the franchise back years at times. Peter didn't believe in rebuilding because he thought trade deadline selloffs did a disservice to fans who had already paid for season tickets. That's noble. It's idiotic and a terrible way to run a baseball team, but it's noble. John has obviously been caught lying multiple times through the past year. Just not going to give them any of my headspace being angry at them. Not going to assume this will mean a change in how the club is run. My primary goal at this point is retaining Elias and whatever scouting/development team has led this franchise to this point. I don't think it's at all a guarantee that the new guy will retain him, or that he will want to stay. So on the whole, cautiously optimistic, but not throwing any parties.
  13. I've had several good ones, but one my favorites didn't really even involve me. Once I was dating a girl with a rich old man who had great seats right behind the Orioles dugout. We went with another couple, the male of which was Dominican. During pre-game Miguel Tejada was running into the dugout and everyone was trying to get his attention and of course he was just ignoring them. My buddy called out his name, and I guess Tejada immediately recognized the accent because his ears perked up and he immediately caught sight of us. My friend tossed him a ball and he ran in and signed it and threw it back to us. It just cracked up me the way he immediately recognized one of his own lol.
  14. I believe the Holiday's are a conservative Christian family. Those types tend to marry young for...you know...reasons.
