  1. You said it many more words, but yea, baseball managers have less impact on the game than any other major sport. Baseball is a culmination of individual performances, which are largely out of a manager’s control.
  2. Roughly. They could win 92. They could win 88. The exact number wasn't my point. They won't fire Hyde because the team won 88 games instead of 90.
  3. There will not be any major coaching changes. This is going to be a 90-win playoff team that lost four of its top six SP. Maybe the hitting coach goes if they finish the season singing the same note they are right now. But Hyde isn’t going anywhere and probably not the rest of his staff.
  4. Yea, as bad this offense has been I just don’t see the upside in continuing to play guys like Jimenez and Rivera. No chance they get into a groove and carry this team offensively in the playoffs, whereas it’s not an impossibility with a Mayo or a Kjerstad.
  5. There’s a weird obsession with playing bad, retread vets over top prospects that goes back two years now. I don’t get it. I don’t understand it. But they continue to do it.
  6. This is the only circumstance that I would be in favor of resigning Santander. I do not want him being a regular RF after this year. The problem with using him as a DH is they like to use that position rotationally, and will probably be a spot to get Basallo and Mayo at bats. Mountcastle would need to be traded. Anthony would really need to learn to play 1B and be adequate there.
  7. He tracks and closes on those gappers just about as good as anyone.
  8. I seem to recall Eloy being in there against quite a few righties of late He also has reverse splits over his career, so using him as a strict platoon guy against LHP makes little sense. May be reading too much into the L/R thing when we are fielding everyday lineups with Rivera, Jimenez, and Slater. We just need better players. Kjerstad has shown the ability to hit both lefties and righties in the minors.
  9. Looking forward to getting Kjerstad back in the lineup so we don't have to see Eloy Jimenez ever again. Or is that wishful thinking?
  10. I would give him several days off in a row and then move him to the bottom of the order until he can get back on track. This isn't a small sample size anymore. We are talking about nearly half his season that he's been terrible, one of the worst everyday players in the league and batting in the top third of our order every day.
  11. Anyone else having a problem getting the game on Roku? I can’t get past the “Roku Live” screen.
  12. I don't think the data on players coming back from TJ will support that 12 months is your baseline (average outcome). This would suggest that some guys come back faster than that, and I haven't seen that happen. Shane Baz took almost two years. Means took 15 months initially plus setbacks and another surgery. How many other pitchers had TJ in 2023 and aren't back this year? There are a number of them.
  13. Are you talking about 2025 or 2026 for Bradish? With 12-18 months being the normal recovery time, and the Orioles being extra cautious with pitchers and injuries, I don't see how we can project him back in July. September would be an average outcome for me, with July being about as equally possible as him not pitching at all next year. The FO plan for starting pitching in 2025 should not be counting on Bradish, in any way, shape, or form. If he comes back at some point, that's just gravy.
  14. Yep. If they aren’t willing to break him in now over Rivera or Jimenez, it’s not going to happen this year.
