  1. That's how they do. Hire an inexperienced manager for the rebuild and bring in someone with more experience when it's time to win.
  2. Maybe he did. I wondered if the reason why he didn't throw the ball in right away on the walkoff play was because he couldn't. I'm not sure there were any outfielders healthy and available on the bench, and Dwight Smith Jr. doesn't count.
  3. Big difference between blaming him and just wanting Maddon.
  4. Dude starts the last game of the season, gets cut, clears waivers, and is outrighted to AAA less than 24 hours after the game ended. That has got to sting a little bit.
  5. I'm expecting Philly to be open, as well.
  6. I wouldn't think he would go for that. I also don't think we'll target him.
  7. I think we will be targeting any pitcher who throws hard and is willing to take the minimum.
  8. Ausmus will get paid for two more years before he replaces Hyde.
  9. In this morning's blog post, Roch said there have been internal discussions about replacing one of the coaches.
  10. Completely different regime and mostly different roster from last year. Next year will be another brutal year in the win column, maybe even worse than this year.
  11. I said it was a great catch. I loved the catch. Best catch of the year. I didn't go into the details of his poor plays because I didn't want to take the focus away from the catch. Have a nice day.
  12. They will draft two Rule 5 players.Cobb will be on the roster whether healthy or not There is no 60-day disabled list in the offseason.
  13. Villar is a more valuable player, but he could be making $8 or $9 million in his walk year. Alberto will be making close to minimum and be under team control for four (I think) more years. Not saying either will be traded, but curious what you all think about the returns each could bring back in trade.
  14. I would definitely NOT non-tender Gary Thorne. He brings a lot to O's telecasts.
  15. Great catch. Now, about those three bad plays he made ...
  16. Elias will want to see him doing well in Norfolk. He also won't want to waste his service time on a team with no expectations of winning. It wouldn't surprise me if he got no AB in the majors next season until September.
  17. Just a big thank you note to the 2019 Orioles. We fans didn't expect a lot of wins, and we know that winning more games than last year is not a big deal to you guys, but we also got: A team that never gave up A team that played as a team A team that was much more fun to watch than last year's team Plenty to talk about Consistent improvement over the course of the season Excellent performances from some players we didn't know could be so good A glimpse of the future New fan favorites I don't think we could have asked for anything more this season. For those of you who will be back next season, I look forward to seeing you in spring training. And for those of you who will be moving on, best wishes for successful careers. You've all been part of a team that has restored my faith in what it means to be a Baltimore Oriole. Coming from someone who first attended an O's game at Memorial Stadium with Brooks Robinson at 3B and Gus Triandos behind the plate, that says a lot about the effort, character and leadership of this team. Thanks for everything you put on the field (and thanks for scoring more runs than the Blow Jays) Go O's!
  18. Penalize teams for strikeouts. For every three strikeouts a team has they lose a run. Will it happen? Nah. Just a thought.
  19. So, Hyde would get another year. High five!
  20. So, a Comeback Player of the Year candidate?
  21. I read that Hyde is on a three-year contract, so I'm thinking more like 81 games before he's Portered.
  22. I think the combination of having a relationship with the player, video and a translator helps it all come together.
