  1. Only if someone claims him, like when they tried to get Alberto through waivers last year.
  2. Thanks. Then, IMHO, he shouldn't have a 40-man roster spot.
  3. Just looking forward to discussions about the Rule 5 Draft.
  4. Today's coaches need to add to their duties serving as interpreters for the analytics department so information is communicated to players in ways the players understand and that make the information actionable.
  5. Does he have any options left? No mediocre pitchers should be kept on the 40-man roster unless they have at least one option remaining. Mediocre pitchers without options can be replaced from the waiver wire.
  6. Diaz hasn't spent any time in AAA, so he won't be up anytime soon. Whatever happens by then will work itself out. Having options is a good thing.
  7. I wouldn't, either. I expect him to see a lot of playing time next season.
  8. I think Mountcastle moves to 1B (or Santander moves to DH) when Diaz comes up.
  9. I'm pretty sure the other corner is reserved for Diaz, just not for OD next season.
  10. Three doubles and a walk in three games at Aberdeen. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?player_id=666783#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
  11. Are they still going to send him to the Arizona Fall League because he needs more ABs?
  12. We should have plenty of waiver claims for the infield to evaluate in ST.
  13. Have you forgotten that Alex Cobb will be healthy and back on the bump next season?
  14. One hits a juiced ball. The other juiced himself.
  15. If Rutschman and Diaz develop into ML All Stars, I'll be happy if Hays turns out to be a good defensive CF who bats seventh and hits some home runs despite having a low OBP. Not everyone on a good team needs to be great.
  16. Should be several new GMs by November. Maybe the new Red Sox head honcho will have given up on Pedroia ever returning.
  17. That's why I had the O's kicking in a few million dollars to increase his value. He would be a one-year rental, so his new team would have a limited time to enjoy what surplus value there is.
  18. Does Villar bring back a promising low-level minor league shortstop if the O's kick in a few million dollars to help pay his salary?
  19. Weirder things happen in baseball.
  20. I expect they will mostly platoon Hays and Willams in CF. with a little Santander and Wilkerson sprinkled in. There are too few games left for Hays or Williams to prove anything with the bat, but good defensive showings would help build a case.
  21. His problems throwing in the infield may have more to do with footwork than arm strength. Throwing from the outfield is very different.
  22. Richie Martin can lift his BA above .200 tonight. He's been hitting .268 in the second half. Baby steps, but progress.
  23. I think Elias will trade Villar before the tender deadline, and even throw in a couple million dollars to sweeten the pot.
