  1. I prefer he has to borrow a glove if he is forced into playing defense at all.
  2. I have a ton of faith in the FO, but the way the poll was worded, had to cast my vote a little lower. We won't know for years - if ever - which offers were made but rejected. Grayson has given everything I was hoping for from Bradish. Burnes has exceeded the hype. So, we need to replace the #3/#4 pitcher we expected Grayson to be. Suarez is still a great surprise. Kremer, in my mind, is trending upward. A solid #3 would be thrilling. On the reliever front, one solid (non-elite) leverage-type reliever can push Tate/Baker/Akin back to Tidewater and make the whole BP look better. And Coloumbe returns for the push. I guess I'm saying we don't need an ace and a closer, but a #3 and a 7th inning specialist. Should be doable.
  3. I heard from an OPACY staffer that he was told the 2029 ASG is slated for Camden Yards. (A worker, not an executive.)
  4. Nadel is a good announcer.
  5. Any word on Mountcastle? Is he hurting?
  6. Mad Max is quaking in his boots fearing this Orioles line up. Hit him early, and hit him hard!
  7. Those 10k pride jerseys were gone by 5:40!
  8. How nice was seven solid innings from Grayson last night? That's the winning ticket! When you have to start the "reliever roulette wheel" in the 5th inning, you're asking for disaster. They used to say, "You're only as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher." Now, it's morphed into "You're only as good as the next reliever." Fewer relievers used = better chances.
  9. High in the zone, but yes, in the zone. I wouldn't say "fat," though... https://www.mlb.com/video/jhonkensy-noel-homers-1-on-a-fly-ball-to-center-field?partnerId=web_video-playback-page_video-share

    Kevin Brown

Not trying to take anything away from Kevin, but I get the feeling as part of his preparation for any game or series, he stashes a few puns just off the side of his scorebook to use if - and only if - the situation comes into play. This just shows me he's a true pro, and that he takes the prep seriously. Are some of them completely spontaneous? Certainly, I'm sure. Punsters gonna pun! So glad he's back from his ESPN sojourn. Get Palmer back and the broadcasts will be even better.
  11. My wife commented that Yankee Stadium was "quiet as a morgue" the last two innings. And, I loved Manso putting up the stop sign in the 9th. Pity is better than gloating!
  12. Underpromise and over deliver?
  13. And you just gotta think that someone in the outfield fell down for four of the six. Only two of those guys were "fast."
  14. Their current bench does not strike fear into anyone.
  15. My Sunday seats are in Section 55, and we were all but surrounded by Phillies fans. They were very vocal up until Westburg's 3-run shot. Then they started to trickle out of the ballpark. Very satisfying win yesterday!
  16. Any chance the Rays will use Maton as the opener tomorrow? That would be sweet!
  17. I recall that Brian Roberts wore special contact lenses for day games at one time. Can't remember whatever became of that. https://vault.si.com/vault/2005/06/06/taking-the-red-eye
  18. Ben Wagner has to become the #1 radio voice. He is doing a good job, near as I can tell. I don't mind when the radio folks need to discuss wxOBA and other ephemera, but for goodness sake it has to come after you have accurately described the play that you can see, but I cannot. Too many times I've screamed aloud in my vehicle, "Just tell me what happened!" Last summer, I was driving from Atlanta to Baltimore and listening to a Saturday afternoon game, with Geoff & Melanie at the mics. By the fourth inning I was pulling what's left of my hair out when I remembered, "I'm listening on mlb.tv I have options!" I switched to the Braves broadcast, and everything was better. From the sound quality, to the vocal tones, to the fact they could accurately and simply describe what was happening on the field, the Atlanta team put ours to shame. Unfortunately, the Braves also won the game.
  19. Before I moved back to Baltimore, I watched/listened to the games on mlb.tv, where you can choose which team's feed to watch, and which audio feed (tv/radio) you would like. That would not have helped this week, because listening to Buck Martinez call a game is pure torture.
  20. Kevin Brown & Ben McDonald are "on assignment." Kevin has been calling the Women's College World Series for years for ESPN. Ben does a lot of men's college baseball for ESPN/SEC. Melanie Newman is covering the Europe stuff for MLB Network. And I'm speculating that Jim Palmer has no desire to work TV games with the radio B-Team announcers. So, we get to put up with a lot of "colorful" fill-ins this time of year. Have patience; thank goodness it doesn't last that long.
  21. On the MASN telecast tonight, Geoff Arnold seemed to imply that Teheran was signed in order to start Thursday's finale vs the Jays. Not sure if he was guessing, or if he knows something we have yet to hear elsewhere.
  22. 3 KyleStowers LF BAL 11 22 2 8 4 0 0 6 0 7 0 0 .364 .348 .545 .893 Can someone explain how Stowers's OBP is lower than his batting average?
  23. It's going to be a lovely, overcast day in Baltimore. Irvin for 8, Kimbrel for the save. Old school.
  24. I thought they were being sly with Wells, keeping him in limbo until the 2nd half, when he'd ride in like a hero with a fresh arm and blood full of piss and vinegar. Darn it! I wish both of them speedy recoveries!
