  1. 6 no hit innings on only 69 pitches! He's now thrown 101 innings and given up only 68 hits. And recently, he seems to have figured out how to keep his walks in check, which has been his only weak point this year. Pretty dominant. Legit prospect?
  2. That's the worst statcast leaderboard I've ever seen. Not the return I wanted for Norby.
  3. You don't have to replace Santander's offense from just one spot in the lineup. The O's gave nearly 400 ABs to Urias and Mateo and most of those should be picked up by Holliday next year. The offense should also benefit from more PAs by Cowser and Westburg at their primary positions. You could get an average season out of whoever replaces Tony and still end up with the same or better total offensive output. If either Kjerstad or Mayo emerges and plays to their potential, the O's offense could be significantly better next year even without Santander. I'm in the camp of giving him a QO, taking the pick and then spending that $20M a season on pitching or extensions for the young core.
  4. Also, look at how much value relievers have in trade now. If the O's took average starting prospects and turned them into good / great relievers, you could trade from surplus to restock some of the farm depth. Like Philly did.
  5. I'm going with Burns at 6 / 204M and Fried at 5 / 150M. The crazy thing is, the O's can afford that.
  6. Genuine question. Is there anyone on OH who thinks Soto was a good pickup and if so, why?
  7. Looked at clutch ratings and Akin is dead last on the team in high leverage situations. But he's the best pitcher on the team in low leverage situations. You need someone to get 2-3 clean innings in a low leverage situation, he's money. Statistically Cano, Webb and Akin are similar, but Webb is far and away the best on the team (except Coulombe) in high leverage, while he struggles more than Cano or Akin in low leverage.
  8. I get the fact he'll be back and that he was the only guy with options. Been watching O's baseball for 45 years and never remembered a situation where a guy leading the bullpen in IPs and WAR and with a sub 1.00 WHIP was sent down. Not criticizing the O's - was just asking if anyone else remembers this happening before.
  9. I don't think I've ever seen a big league club in the heat of a pennant race option their most used and arguably most effective reliever. Anyone else ever remember this happening?
  10. If Coby wins ROY next year, he'll be thanking the O's for maintaining his eligibility because that award and the visibility it generates will put millions more in his pocket.
  11. I want the O's to spend that money on pitching and extensions for our 22 to 26 year old players, not Santander. He's had a fabulous career with the O's, but he's not a player I'd tie up 10 to 20% of my budget with when there are replacements waiting in the wings and glaring needs elsewhere on the club.
  12. I'm confused with what they plan for Slater.
