Such a strong indication of how bad the system was prior to Elias. The age old debate about poor drafting vs. poor development. I think it's now very clear that both were true.
Yeah, it kind of is. That’s a very pickable ball and he gets lazy with his technique. He just swiped at the ball. Like I said last year. When you do that you make your hands hard and he usually knocks the ball away. A Major League 1B has to pick that.
I think I will give it a D based on what I saw as the possibilities.
Gibson is essentially Lyles and I was hoping for one of the 2nd tier guys or a trade for a stud. Gibson is 3rd tier at best.
I like the Irvin deal
Frazier is a head scratcher for all the reasons previously mentioned.
I like McCann deal
The overstocking of left handed !B/OF options was weird, unless it was for AAA depth all along.
All the catchers on the 40 man at the beginning was weird too.
I mean, I guess the O's are better but not as much as they could have been with some basic and frankly obvious moves.
I don't disagree. That's why I started with FWIW but it is a source. I was just passing it on. I am hoping that he starts in Aberdeen. After the ST he had, it doesn't seem that he needs to go back to Delmarva but perhaps he goes there for a few more weeks and then get promoted. I would like to see him progress and finish at Bowie.
I love the WBC and I think holding it during ST is the right way to go. It’s not perfect but I think it’s the best. The US needs to figure out how to get their best pitchers to participate.
Well of course it's about money. But it the same for other teams. Look how many Pittsburg broadcasts. You can't tell me that the Pirate games make money.
I have brought this up in the past. Maybe someone like Frobby knows the answer. I am curious if there is something in the MASN agreements with the cable/satellite providers that prohibits MASN from streaming to non-cable subscribers?
I am wondering if he signed him with the thought that he would prefer the IF prospects start the year at AAA and maybe Frazier would re-establish himself and he would get something for him at the deadline. I know I am reaching but this is the only rationale I can think that makes any sense. I don't see it though.
This is a common conception. There are a growing number of reserch that indicates that there is no significant differencee. I think that the program to return from TJ is firmly established and no one wants to be the first to change it. Here is one of the studies. The results were published in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine on December 10, 2020.
Is this the part that would flash the H or E in the word for a Hit or Error when a scoring decision was made. If it is, then that stinks. This was one of the coolest quirks of the park. Although, to be fair, I’m not sure they still did that anyway.
They haven’t moved the needle much but like others have said, any improvement will be largely due to the young players progressing. I’m okay with the moves so far. I would have liked to have seen a better starting pitcher signed but I’m in the camp that our position players should come from the minors this year. I still think we are in the let’s see what we have stage of the rebuild. I expect some regression from a W/L perspective because that almost always happens when there is a large jump in the previous year. I honestly don’t care about the money part of it. It’s a drop in the bucket and all essentially one year deals or deals that can easily be eaten if needed.
You absolutely shop Urias. The problem is... what can you get for him. If teams think you have to move him, it hurts his value. ME isn't going to telegraph this move. I like Urias, he is a good player. We need better players and I think we have them in the minors. It is time for Westburg and Ortiz to get MLB reps.
Is there any sense of how he is viewed by other organizations? He is not a consensus Top 100 guy. Tony clearly like him but do other orgs see him that way or not. I wonder if the O's would be trading low right now.
