  1. I understand your take, it just didn't bother me all that much. I care about the on field product, not who's calling the game, and I didn't learn anything new that I didn't already know about our ridiculous owners. Truth be told, I miss Gary Thorne.
  2. What exactly does this mean? Who are the losers? We all know the Angelos' are ridiculous petty owners, so no news there. If you're saying the fans are losers because we couldn't listen to an announcer for two weeks, I guess we'll just agree to disagree. The Angelos' suck as owners. That has been confirmed in the past two weeks. I see nothing else that has come from this that makes ANYONE a winner or loser.
  3. OMG. Seriously? This worked so well from 97 to 2012. All your protests will do is give Angelos an excuse for why he moves to Nashville. "The fans stopped supporting us." "We are a first place team with only middle of the pack attendance." "They booed us when I suspended the broadcaster." "It's the fans fault we moved. Look in the mirror Baltimore."
  4. Good points, but I'll simply counter with this...Elias is going where the money is, regardless of which broadcaster the owner suspends in the booth. My opinion...the team couldn't care less who's in the booth.
  5. I'm gonna go the back in my day route, but in this case its kinda true. For 20 years I was a very active member on here, and all we had were losing teams. So naturally the conversations were geared towards negativity, complaining, and Angelos bashing. Not that there is anything wrong with any of that, but I guess now that I'm older and we have an actual winning team to discuss, my concerns are more geared towards the on field product and not what the terrible ownership group is doing behind the scenes. Its just not worth my energy to wonder why John Angelos would give any feeling whatsoever to what Brown said, much less suspend him for it. But hey, to each their own. I'm just tired of hearing about it and seeing every "news" story in my feed being a different complaint about the same thing.
  6. This topic clearly has some people hot under the collar, and I am a fan of Kevin Brown's work, but....isn't this the type of drama that we would use when we were 30 games out of the pennant race in August back in the day, just to keep things interesting? This is not a major issue in the grand scheme of things, and certainly isn't in any way keeping me from enjoying our team. On my FB feed its post after post from Hangout members saying we should boycott and start chants and on and on. For what purpose? Do you think Angelos cares? Nope. Do you think anything would change? Nope. Could it possibly be a distraction for our team wondering why people are cheering against their boss rather than FOR them? Yup. My two cents...let it go and root on the Birds.
  7. Not so sure about GOAT but definitely feel like one of the Old Timers. lol
  8. The "insider" stuff was always wild, but nothing could trump all the Tex stuff. The board was going wild during that time.
  9. I still blame my wife who texted us that the rain was supposed to last all night.
  10. OMG, if I live to be 100, on my birthday I'm gonna get a card at the Old Age home that says, "I can't believe you left!" lol
  11. Different strokes for different folks, but I hated this rule and hope it stays on the playground. If this is still being bantered, then I'd bet the 7 inning double headers are as well, and those I really hated.
  12. Our Opening Day tickets are valid for whenever "Opening Day" ends up being. They emailed us after the first cancellation, but I've yet to hear anything since the second one and the deal.
  13. Its looking more and more likely that I can keep my vacation day that I was going to schedule for March 31.
  14. Awesome. Thanks Ripken! Now more than ever I want that "Camden Yards Makeover" show on HGTV.
  15. They keep showing the same "progress" photos, just from different angles. We're two months out from Opening Day, assuming the league and union get their heads out of their....sand. I wish they'd post updated pictures so we can follow along, like a show on HGTV "Camden Yards Makeover."
  16. I got six tickets and can still buy two more. This was the easiest it has ever been. Not sure if there is just a lack of passion for the team, or if people think the league will not have an agreement in place, but it was crazy easy to get the tickets this year.
  17. Baseball is already hanging by a thread in attracting new fans and keeping the old ones interested. They will always have us die hards, but if the season does not start on time, God bless their attendance and tv ratings this spring and summer.
  18. Dipper's Thirsty Thursday Thoughts to Consider... Just because they removed 15 rows does not mean that will stay that way. They may have removed them so they are not damaged during the demolition/construction of the new left field wall. Once the wall is constructed and complete, then they can put the seats back in.
  19. I'd say 75% of the fans in the left field bleachers are there to drink, party, and the game is secondary. It's always annoyed me sitting out there with the drunks who think I'm there to watch them perform, tell stupid jokes, or yell at the opposing team's players. I would remove all the seats from this section, level it off, and have another beer/food court with standing room only tickets sold for this section.
  20. I actually like this alot, but lets play devil's advocate. The last week of the season, the Orioles are the 7th worst team in baseball, only two games better than the 6th worst team, lets just say the Pirates. What would be the incentive for the Pirates to try to win and for the Orioles to not phone it in so that we would drop to the 6th worst team, thus the #1 pick, where as the 7th worst team gets nothing?
  21. Treat it like wrestling, where the teams that are not ready to compete for the World Championship can compete for the Cruiserweight title. Now, teams like the Orioles and Pirates can have interesting games because we're not worried that we're 40 games out of first in August, because we're leading the Cruiserweight Standings.* *This is tongue in cheek of course, but baseball needs to think outside the box if they want to attract younger fans. Those of us who enjoy the "good ol' fashioned game of baseball" are getting older and older and will someday no longer exist.
  22. Here's my take. The Orioles are cheap, they no longer care about winning, and they certainly don't care about the fans. I am a 13 game season ticket holder. Prices have not gone down during this rebuild, even though the Orioles organization openly admits its a rebuild and we are not trying to be competitive. Not only have prices of tickets not gone down, but concession costs have risen, parking cost has risen by nearly 50% on some nights, and they don't let you bring your own food into the stadium anymore. They will tell you that is COVID related, but I would trust my own food I am bringing in then the grub they serve at those concession stands. After every game, the Orioles send me a survey. And every time, I say I am okay with a rebuild if they treated their fans with a little respect. Instead they are price gouging people while putting an inferior product on the field. And finally, we are "rebuilding" in a division with 4 teams who constantly are developing their farm system and spending money on the major league team. Even IF this rebuild if a roaring success, we might have a couple year window to compete with the other four teams in the division, and hopefully we'll get lucky enough to make the playoffs. There is a reason no one goes to games...we stink, and the prices are high. So yeah, I think these reporters have every right to bash the Orioles, not based on one rebuild, but based on nearly 40 years of inferior baseball being played in the city of Baltimore.
  23. Has anyone seen Valaika having dinner at the Warehouse with Mark Teixiera? Or is it Texeira? Or Texiera?
