  1. RIP Mr. Angelos - you were one of the most brilliant lawyers to step into the public arena. As the owner of the Orioles, it was tumultuous, but your postive impact on Baltimore City will never be forgotten. MSK
  2. If you get bored or saddened by this, both AEW and NXT have loaded shows on TBS and USA respectively. MSK
  3. Yea, in a morbid-yet-glorious kind of way, this makes me happy. I've got a good 30-years left. Nothing to worry about. MSK
  4. At the very least, this gives me time to get settled in to watch the game and hang out here as well as the Sons of Sam Horn forum. Good lord, the comments there are worthy enough to admit someone into an insane asylum. MSK
  5. Wow. What's the rule for when an umpire is in the middle of a play? I've never seen anyone throw a ball into an ump before!
  6. Got tix very easily. Even as a 13-game plan member. MSK
  7. This was a lovely gesture. God Bless. MSK
  8. SONS OF SAM HORN. One of the worst baseball message boards in existence and of course it's a Red Sox/New England sports forum. Those folks are the absolute worst in terms of whining and entitlement. MSK
  9. No matter what 2021 might hold for this Orioles team, I cannot think of a better way to start a season than to sweep the Red Sox at Fenway in their opening weekend. A chef's kiss of baseball karma. MSK
  10. Yes, he seems slightly more locked in. I'm happy to see the guys, but damn, it would be nice to get a run there. MSK
  11. Well, at least Davis remains consistent. MSK
  12. Why would anyone complain about this? We've waited decades for the Orioles to catch up with early 21st century analytics and sports technology. We are literally starting from ground zero. If the FO wants to do a series of videos that encourage fans to understand the change in player evaluation and tactical development, what could possibly be the downside? I've long maintained the Orioles desperately need to market themselves better in the region. This is an excellent first step at diminishing the bizarre secretive nature of the Orioles FO. Hope they keep this up. MSK
  13. Technically yes. I'm only saying that the Orioles have no direction to go but up. As we rebuild, new talent needs a shot. Dwight joining the team isn't going to hurt us. I believe he may have some strong upside. We shall see. In the meantime, I'm watching this team every step of the way. MSK
  14. I feel that Elias wouldn't randomly grab a guy unless HE sees something that a lot of others don't. I like what I'm seeing in Spring Training and I know we've got a long way to go, but these younger guys are playing with confidence and poise. They're not perfect, but there's some spark in there. Dwight Smith Jr could falter but he could also blossom into something special. Gotta take the chance with new talent now. We've no other choice. Let's hope for the best. MSK
  15. Yes. That's my original point. Elias getting a time limit on a "blank check" only a day or so after being hired is premature. MSK
  16. "Foolish?" Okay. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well man. ? I understand what you're saying, but let's just take a look at the state of the team from the MLB club to single-A. I am very happy that the FO will finally join the rest of MLB with the use of developmental metrics, my original points remain the same though: 1) It's too early to unfairly criticize Elias or hold him to an impossible standard right out of the gate. 2) We have over 30 years of mismanagement to overcome. 3) The team is in shambles and we need to be patient and see if Elias will be allowed to truly shape the organization without historically documented levels of interference from ownership. This all goes back to the classic argument on the OH: justified fan cynicism vs bottomless benefit of the doubt for ownership. Elias didn't create this situation, he's tasked with fixing it and then excelling. That's going to require a coordinated effort and unquestioned support from the guys with the money. Here's hoping they give him the support he needs. Saying and doing are two different things. MSK
  17. ? This is the first real light at the end of the tunnel we've seen in a very long while. Even the awesome run of 2012-2016 felt like the team was living on borrowed time and it expired. Elias might be a truly talented GM, but no one can fix the Orioles' situation in a year or two or three. I'm not worried about Elias' skill, I'm concerned whether or not the ownership will allow him to make the necessary moves for long-term improvement. I believe Elias when he says he's serious about putting the team on the right track, I remain unconvinced if he'll be allowed to make those changes. Putting Elias on notice as if he's a team owner doesn't make a lick of sense. MSK
  18. No doubt. It's going to be a friggin nightmare. Between the Red Sox and Yankees showing no signs of slowing down and the Rays steadily improving (again), I don't see a window for Orioles contention for at least 4-6 years. At least. The one question that has never been answered to my satisfaction is how could owners of a MLB franchise ignore what other successful franchises have done for decades - and not only ignore - but do the EXACT OPPOSITE to the point where they have a historic losing season with no signs of a rebound for seasons to come? I cannot understand why the ownership has allowed the team to falter to this degree. Elias has NOTHING to do with that and should not be held to any kind of immediate scrutiny unless he makes the same types of decisions. MSK
