I say they go out and get TWO closers from teams that are out of it. Scott and Estevez would be my guesses. Elias refuses to deal any of Holliday/Basallo/Kjersted/Cowser/Mayo so they don’t get a top starter like Skubal or Crochet. But a lesser guy, let’s say Bassitt from Toronto or Steele from Chicago, is cheaper than anyone thinks so Elias acquires him for lower prospects.

Morosi is from Detroit and is plugged in with the Tigers. He’s definitely serving as a mouthpiece for their front office. But I don’t think he has any connection to the Yankees.

I would be very upset if ME traded either Cowser or Kjerstad for 1.5 years of Eflin and his 4.19 ERA.
