  1. yeah, I think Means will be fine and get 125 plus innings. Can’t say I am very optimistic about Bradish.
  2. I know it’s not popular here, but count me as a big Stowers fan. That bat can play, the power is legit. I still wonder if Stowers could be converted to first base. I see an opportunity long term for him as our everyday first baseman
  3. So dreaming out loud here. If Means comes up this weekend and proceeds to pitch like the John Means we all love and miss, Would he be eligible to pitch in the postseason? Or just down the stretch?
  4. In my opinion, Cowser will be fine. I’d keep on playing the kid, because I think his bat will soon shine
  5. When he’s healthy he’s at least a 2. I would love to sign him to a three year deal, but it doesn’t come without risk. Right now, if John Means could come back strong, We’d be set for ‘23. That’s my dream.
  6. If you didn’t think we got a pitcher that can really help this team down the stretch, then you don’t know jack. I voted the trade an A in our poll. I live in springfield missouri, and have watched him regularly from AA ball here in Springfield through his time with the Cards. When Flaherty is healthy, he’s a top of the rotation pitcher. And he’s healthy now
  7. Baker only threw 4 pitches in the 8th. I would have sent him out there for the ninth. Not one to pick on Hyde, but I thought it was strange to trot Bazardo out there for the ninth. But….We got away with it
  8. Mark Belanger says, “Hi”.
  9. If he’d take an incentive laiden deal, yes. I would love Britton to be healthy, pitching well and finish his career here
  10. It’s the Weams chat board! Could not be more appropriately named. It’s just that we all knew him as Weams, and now it’s formalized with his real whole name. Great guy, I miss him. We had our arguments, still love and miss Weams.
  11. Do not sleep on Stowers. Big time power, and a cannon. I think at this time next year, Stowers will be on all of our untouchable lists.
  12. Great deal for trey! I’m happy for him, he’s gonna love hitting at Wrigley.
  13. I totally agree! Most pro athletes are not worth a second contract. So let’s not be the fools that reach out and sign these guys to free agent (second contracts) deals. Build deep depth, check. Don’t take stupid risks on veteran free agents, check. play the international player game, check. I think a lot of O’s fans just need to “Kwitcherbitchen”.
  14. I hear you, but when you have several young pitchers who stepped up and impressed last year, plus two absolute stud pitching prospects….Not to mention the possible return of John Means…i don’t think you need to commit big bucks to aging middle of the road pitchers. If you wanted to step up and spend big on a real TOR starter, i would get behind that idea. But I wouldn’t spend on these guys. Rodon? yeah, i could go along with that because i think he could really boost your chances.
  15. Only time will tell, but I suspect the vast majority of those contracts will not be good deals for the teams. some will be disasters
  16. from what I understand O’hearn is indeed still owed 1.4 million this season. I suspect the Royals are on the hook for a good portion of that. But the genius part of this, is that because any team that would claim him would assume the salary. So the orioles are virtually assured that he ends up as depth in Norfolk. Another brilliant play by Elias.
  17. well……Clearly. Except me. I know what time it is, always do. Everyone else on here is in a state of confusion. :j
  18. Hays is not on the bubble. But for me it’s Hays, Stowers, Westburg and Mckenna
  19. That is not the way i read the question. What part of the team will drive it’s success? Well, if this team is really successful it will be the rotation that carrie’s them there.
  20. For me it all comes down to the two young pitchers (Grayson and DL Hall), and the return of John Means. If Means comes back mid year strong, and the two kids are looking good then we will be a real contender. I think it’s gonna happen, but admit those are nothing more than “ifs” right now.
  21. I live in the Missouri ozarks, 2 1/2 hours south of KC. I have had a buttload of Hosmer. Pretty sure he would suck as a DH, but he is certainly one of the great DB’s of all time. Hard pass from me.
  22. Ok, just a little nostalgia from an old guy. Boog is my favorite oriole of all time. Boog started life as an outfielder, and later moved to first base. And he became an exceptionally good one. I really like what I see in Kyle Stowers. I can’t help myself from drawing some parallels to the young John Powell. I see no reason not to give Stowers lots of work this spring at first base. Just another opportunity to get his LH bat in the lineup.
  23. they said in the article, The o’s are interested. That is code for, scratch Hosmer off the list. He’s gonna be a Cub
  24. I would much rather trade from our ml ranks, than from the prospects. Santander, Urias, Mateo, Hays, etc. I think this off-season highlights exactly why I take this stance. This team is not going to spend money in the free agent market. They are all about with building from within, and to me that is clearly the path that they will stay on. Maybe they trade for a pitcher like Lopez who only has 2 years of control and get back another interesting prospect in the deal. Makes sense to me. trading away established players who are about to get more expensive, and stockpiling prospects.
