Might be the best control I’ve seen from Kremer. Really pounded the zone all day. Last year he was perpetually in 3-2 counts. Today looked like a different pitcher than that.

I lived next door to Bob Robertson’s father-in-law. Remember him ? Slugging 1st baseman for the Pirates. A nemesis of the O’s in the ‘71 Series. He got very angry when we would have to come in his yard to retrieve a stray ball, usually a result of a miss-hit foul. Once I retorted “Bobby doesn’t hit the ball straight every time.” I’m sure he wasn’t happy about a kid back-talking him, but I did see him smile as he turned to walk back in his house.

Adley’s going to reach base 250+ times this season. Joe Mauer did that 4 times. Mike Piazza did it twice. Johnny Bench once. Buster Posey never did. Neither did Carlton Fisk, Gary Carter, Yadier Molina, Jorge Posada or Ivan Rodriguez.

I need to go back and watch his performance today again, but my impression was that he only used his fastball on a couple of pitches to Singleton. Everything else was cutters/ sliders and splits. If a guy has control issues, especially a guy who throws 100, why not challenge and at least get beat with your best.

Did he throw more than 1 or 2 fastballs though ?

169 pitches on Sunday vs Tampa. 161 yesterday. 165 today. Hyde has really had his work cut out for him trying to navigate the pen for these last 3 wins.

The Orioles have a 10.5 game lead on the #6 seed. If we do what it takes to fall to 6, I’m not sure I like our chances against anyone.
