  1. I'll bet Scott Boras called on a regular basis beginning the day the sale to Rubenstein and his group was announced.
  2. Why do you think Elias had the authority to offer an extension when he made the decision to send Holliday down?
  3. Impressive resume and list of responsibilities and the O's are lucky to have her on board... but lets get down to the real question - is she one of the sigbots?
  4. FWIW I agree. “Collapse” isn’t inaccurate, but it does imply the cause was lack of structural integrity not a collision.
  5. Tate is a good candidate. Cowser better because there’s a line forming behind him.
  6. I’m thinking “Christmas in March” works too
  7. If the owners cared about appearances then they would have scheduled the vote for Friday at the earliest.
  8. At what point does Rubenstein have full authority to increase Elias’ authority to commit funds? The deal would have to close immediately after MLB approval for Montgomery to still be around i would think.
  9. Who knows until the new ownership has settled in? This is a better question for later in the season at the earliest. I agree with Frobby that 7/150 is too high a bar. Carroll's 8/111 would be a good median figure IMO.
  10. A decidedly mixed obit in today’s Washington Post.
  11. Santander? Maybe edit the thread title so his name is correct?
  12. The ownership hasn't changed. Rubenstein and his partners aren't yet in a position to order money spent. MLB needs to formally sign off and the deal has to close.
  13. OTOH it would be complete lunacy for him to believe such projections would provide information valid enough to act on.
  14. Rest in peace. Condolences to the Angelos family and best wishes in the future.
  15. Any conversation about extensions or multi-year FA contracts is no doubt mooted by the transition to new owners. It could be months before Elias can even think along those lines.
  16. Evidently Jorge Mateo is to Mike Elias as Kevin Youkilis was to Billy Beane. All we're waiting for now is the offensive breakout.
  17. Between May 1 and the end of the season last year he hit .179/.228/244/.474 over 267 PA. Exceeding out expectations when it comes to hitting is a low bar to clear. The only argument I see for him being on the team is that his combination of speed, defensive ability and purported versatility can remove the need to carry a fifth OF and maybe Urias too if Westburg also makes the team.
  18. Given enough starts, I expect results in the same neighborhood as Gibson last year and that's plenty good enough for a #5. Zero concerns about durability.
  19. My theory is I don’t think Elias has the payroll left, although Lorenzen was being stubborn about a second year too.
  20. I love it when someone gets all wound up about a post being “just speculation…”
  21. In regard to obstructing some of the players I’ve wanted to see given more opportunity, it’s been a resounding success.
