  1. Apple One includes Apple News, Apple Music and 2TB of iCloud storage along with Apple TV. If you're a news junkie as well as a baseball junkie (like I am), it's a huge value.
  2. If Mayo takes #24, I hope he cares as much about the O’s as Dempsey did/does.
  3. For once I agree with Rob Manfred.
  4. I remember them, but not when they played for the O’s. I do remember a guy named Rick Dempsey though.
  5. It’s about maximizing revenue. The rest is incidental.
  6. I don't buy the notion that Wells is forever limited to 120 IP per season max at age 29, so between Teheran and Wells, I would go with whomever looks like the stronger pitcher on Opening Day and not overthink things.
  7. Which era's umps call balls and strikes? I don't think it would be much of a contest regardless, but I think watching the 1927 Yankees react to the low strike would be more entertaining than the games themselves.
  8. Perhaps, but what would Sig do with all of that? The amount of time he and Elias and a few others have to actually think deeply about stuff like this is limited, so any decently designed model would first filter out data presentations that the recipient(s) found irrelevant which would be at least 99% of them in a situation like this. It's our collective 21st century dilemma in a nutshell.
  9. Especially impressive considering the commute from Commerce, OK.
  10. IMO it was a forgone conclusion that Holliday would spend at least a couple of months in AAA to start the year regardless of what Elias said publicly. Same for Mayo. The purpose of spring training is to reveal the few remaining rough edges that need to be smoothed out. Injuries elsewhere could accelerate the timetable, of course.
  11. Great to see that Duquette still has a connection even if it’s a tenuous one.
  12. I don't think so either, but it's not going to keep me awake at night. There's such a thing as being over-insured.
  13. Kjerstad "only" has 337 AAA PA's so I can see that being used as a pretext to send him down at the beginning of the season. It's still early but it's looking like Cowser has found another gear and he has a full year of AAA time banked. Stowers has 783 AAA PA's but I don't see a path to the majors for him in Baltimore regardless of how well he does in spring training; I hope he does well anyway so he can get traded. Out of the three, my money is on Cowser heading north.
  14. The highlights you see on MLB Network are available for games they stream and for those they don't. The dozen or so clips I checked clearly have operators behind the cameras and are live switched. It may be contract issues between the teams and MLB are the reason for so few games being available, but it doesn't look like lack of resources is a factor.
  15. Plenty of people do. Around 2.9 million fans attended 2023 spring training games and the estimate is $1.4 billion in revenue for Florida and Arizona in 2024. https://www.forbes.com/sites/berniepleskoff/2024/02/22/mlb-spring-training-could-bring-1-4-billion
  16. At least the end is in sight. Finally.
  17. With Skenes starting for the Pirates. Pity nothing but radio on the game.
  18. O’Hearn has one option remaining and Kjerstad has three. Elias seems to have no problem using them all if it preserves his flexibility.
  19. Hasn’t been a factor since 2019. I wonder what they see in him.
  20. I like Santander too, but the whole notion about what the O's can and can't afford to do is about to be reset, so he may as well throw his hat in the ring early. That said, I suspect that the entire 2024 starting outfield will be gone by Opening Day 2026. Extensions will and should be reserved for top-tier talents like Henderson, Rutschman and Holliday and perhaps Mayo and Basallo IMO.
  21. MASN has a ton of sick cameras an at least one mount that needs replacing. Get Rubenstein on the phone. In other news its great to see live baseball again and to hear Palmers voice.
  22. I can’t remember the last time a GM from any team was anything other than noncommittal at best, and more often meaninglessly upbeat when answering questions about pitching injuries. Take the amount of time implied and multiply by three for a starting point.
