  1. Cano comes back out looking sharper than before and Hyde yanks him. What else?
  2. Okay. I missed the first 45 minutes or so but thought he was pretty effective since I started watching.
  3. Love how aggressive the O's have been this inning. Gotta keep it up.
  4. It's that juicy large market goodness that's as irresistible to Rob Manfred as crack cocaine. MLB's legendary marketing prowess on full display once again.
  5. FYI for all interested - BBRef has his name as Shintaro Fujinami.
  6. I'd rather see GrayRod vs. Bradley and Wells vs. McClanahan but this is a must-see series regardless.
  7. BBRef has him at $3.25 million for all of 2023.
  8. If the O's had to hire a translator for Fujinami is it some kind of issue for you?
  9. It may take a week or so for me to internalize Baltimore as a destination team.
  10. Is this the appropriate thread to say" Sayonara AdleysPecks"?
  11. My goal wasn't to tee up trade idea for debate, but more to ask for a little perspective. I agree that Hays alone wouldn't be enough to equal the Twins trade, but that's not the real point. The O's need solid, controllable starting pitching and if they're smart about it, they should be able to get enough without gutting the cream of the minor league system. All the noise about a TOR starter has devolved into a complete straw man IMO.
  12. Is the presumed need for a "TOR" starter throwing this discussion into the twilight zone? Last winter the Twins acquired Pablo Lopez and Jose Salas and Byron Chourio for Luis Arraez alone. Arraez is certainly a solid player albeit with no power - 131 wRC+ in 2022. Right now the O's rough statistical equivalent for that deal would be Austin Hays at 129 wRC+ vs 131 for Arraez at the time of his trade. Maybe wild-eyed claims of Holliday and Kjerstad and John Angelos' first born all being needed for a nonexistent prime Pedro Martinez or Randy Johnson entirely misses the point. It's the Pablo Lopezes of the world that should be the focus and would much more the Orioles' speed anyway IMO. Is such a pitcher available now? I don't know, but Kjerstad or Cowser as a centerpiece should be plenty enough to get a deal like that rolling before the start of 2024 and would be a legit use of that kind of asset.
  13. Cowser has sucked in the very small sample size since he's come up so I voted for him mainly to neutralize recency bias. The way I really feel is that if one has to be traded - and only for quality controllable pitching at that - I don't care. Keep any two of Cowser, Kjerstad and Mayo and trade the other.
  14. Very humbling two games against the Dodgers. Especially tonight. If this is a test to show how ready the O's are for real, sustained competition, they're simply getting owned.
  15. Goodness. Perez is a total embarrassment tonight
  16. Evidently Irvin can't comfortably pitch with the bases empty. This has been a typical 2023 Irvin appearance.
  17. EdRod is not a rental pitcher. After this season, he will still have $49 mill on his contract and won't be a FA until 2027.
  18. Snell has pitched more than 129.1 innings once in his 8-year ML career (7 if you discount 2020) and that was 2018. He is at 103 for this season. That brings up the immortal words of Dirty Harry: "So the question you have to ask yourself is do I feel lucky?" Well do you?
  19. It’s camouflage to distract from his alarming lack of veteranocity.
  20. Patience. I’m sure Elias has at least six overpaid, defensively challenged vets already on speed dial.
  21. No, but he's a pure professional in every other respect.
  22. Pitch number 3? That used to be kryptonite for him.
  23. Boy that changeup is nasty tonight.
