  1. Henderson, Rutschman, Westburg and Cowser all in the same lineup is very exciting. All that's missing is Grayson Rodriguez on the mound. Hopefully soon.
  2. Call up Gunnar Henderson? Call up Joey Ortiz?
  3. Why was Wells tippy-toeing around three of the worst Yankee hitters in recent memory?
  4. .222/ .293/ .367/ .660 for the month of June. That's a swing that might benefit from a little messing with. Jokes aside I would much rather see him get one AB and rest for the remainder of the AS break.
  5. The O's could probably do a lot worse than Cole Irvin as a fifth starter as long as they don't expect anything more. Hernaiz was a quality prospect, but he was also completely superfluous. Even if Irvin completely implodes, I doubt Elias will have any regret whatsoever. Irvin is durable and doesn't reach arb 1 until next season. That's plenty enough right there for an Angelos-owned team to work with, right?
  6. Westburg and Cowser have earned a look and personally I don't need a whole lot of theorizing to know how I feel. I want to see Westburg playing because I don't want to see Frazier play baseball more than once a week and I want Cowser playing so I don't have to watch Santander in RF anymore. After seeing the new guys play for a couple of months, maybe then we have business drawing conclusions about their impact on the team. Right now, Westburg has played all of six games. It's not clear what I'm supposed to be agreeing with everybody else about.
  7. Tony-OH wasn't, he had him at #4 on the 2023 power rankings thread this spring. But what the heck, Mayo is a great story right now especially when it looks like the O's have forgotten how to hit.
  8. Make no mistake, the W-L record says this is a season worth investing in, but I suspect the price of pitching over the next month will be so high that I can see the O's internally deciding to punt until next year. The rationale will include the full season availability of Means and Rodriguez in 2024 along with the development of Wells and Bradish yada, yada, yada, and voila - only one more expensive pitcher required. And maybe there's something to that but cold comfort nonetheless.
  9. C. Rutchman, McCann (when healthy) IF. O'Hearn (later Mountcastle), Westburgh, Henderson, Mateo, Urias OF. Hays, Mullins, Santander, Cowser, Hicks Keep Ortiz until Mountcastle returns.
  10. In today's Athletic there is an article comparing and ranking every team's City Connects uniforms (I'm accessing it through the NY Times online so that is an option too). If you, like me, are appalled by how ugly and simply wrong-headed the design of the Baltimore all black version is, well IMO it's one of the better ones although that opinion is not necessarily shared by the judges in the article. Plenty of pictures. Don't read on a full stomach. https://theathletic.com/4633605/2023/06/28/mlb-city-connect-uniforms-ranked/
  11. It was a great performance. A lot better than Akin's...
  12. I want the time I spent on innings 3-7 back, otherwise, not a bad game.
  13. Exciting team on the rise. Cincinatti, Arizona and the O's are fun teams to watch right now.
  14. And once again Cy Young completely handcuffs the Orioles on what, 10 pitches?
  15. Well, you could also trade some of the non-pitching prospects to compensate. Radical thought I know, but it's looking like Elias has forgotten that's an option.
  16. Completely support Pride and diversity, but I just switched to the Cincinatti broadcast. MLB TV has many benefits.
  17. This is two starts in a row where Gibson looks completely lost. He's not a great pitcher, but he's also this bad.
  18. The interview is probably scheduled for the entire half inning, so 80 years of life history might not be enough.
  19. Hyperbole, but only a little. Wells and Westburg looked like the only two Orioles who showed up for work. I checked out shortly after Frazier's AB and probably slept better because of it.
  20. I think last night's use of Frazier was perfect - late inning pinch hitter against RHP when the game already looked out of reach.
  21. For the last two years, most of Kjerstad's OF starts have overwhelming been in RF so until recently Mayo's been blocked. FWIW I think that as long as Mayo is at Bowie, he should get a tryout in RF and Kjerstad's future minor league games should focus on 1B.
