  1. Is Urias an upgrade over Rivera? Sure. But I dont think hes anyone thats going to change the trajectory of this team. He was awful for 80% of this season, then turned it on the last month or so. Hopefully he comes back and is that person from August. Kjerstad should be back, but based on what we've seen in the past, he wont play. Hyde has had him and Mayo on completely different playing schedules than the other young guys. O'Hearn is just showing who he is unfortunately. Exposed in an every day role. He was best in the platoon DH and sometimes 1B role.
  2. 2/3 three times. Then a Toss up in game 10, that I say we win. So 7.
  3. I agree that our philosophy needs to change, but what hitting coach is making Slater, Rivera, Jimenez, Soto, Maton, O'Hearn a good hitter? There is a serious lack of talent right now on the offensive side of the ball, with the lack of chemistry to also noted. This doenst feel like "our team" or "our guys"
  4. Unfortunately, the injuries have made this a completely different team. Rivera, Soto, Maton, Slater, Jimenez, every day 1B O'Hearn etc are essentially the same level of talent we were watching in 2019-2021 with the Hanser Alberto's, Kelvin Gutierrez', Rio Ruiz', Renato Nunez', Richie Martin's, Stevie Wilkerson's of the world. We are using guys in roles that they are not good enough for- O'Hearn at 1B every day, Rivera every day, Slater vs RHP, Jimenez every day- and we are being exposed. Expecting this group to turn it around like Texas and Arizona last year is not realistic because this current group is just not talented. This is not the roster that was 24 games above .500 in June. This is not the roster that was top 3 in baseball in offense. Do you think that if this was our roster from April to now we would be above .500? No chance- and I would guess our record would be flipped if this was the group we played with all year. Our offense was always flawed, even when it was ranked #1, and I've always thought our overall stats were fools gold based on being too reliant on the homer/lack of getting on base. But there is a clear lack of talent in our every day lineup, and you add to that massive slumps by some of our regulars and young guys like Jackson and Mayo who just have not produced at all its a recipe for what we are seeing now. I'm not sure there is anything that can be fixed right now other than getting guys healthy. Hoping that Kjerstad and Westburg and Mounty and Urias can return and give us a jolt, but time is ticking and thats looking less likely now than it did a month ago. Firing the hitting coaches or Hyde? What does that accomplish? There isnt a hitting coach in the world that would make Soto/Maton/Rivera/Jimenez/Slater better hitters, or make O'Hearn a gold glover. We need our regulars back for a miracle run.
  5. Connor Norby 0 for his last 17 with 7 k’s
  6. If we get swept , that “almost guaranteed playoff spot” will certainly be in more jeopardy with 3 more games against them as well.
  7. Playing our all lefty lineup against a RHP opener with a left following does not seem like the right move
  8. I agree with you. I am not saying to rush him back by any means.
  9. I don’t think we would need him to play the field anyways. Just plug him into the DH role.
  10. Kjerstad has played in like 4 or so games I believe.
  11. I mean we literally have 12 out of the opening day 26 hopeful contributors (13 if you include Felix) on the IL. I know every team deals with injuries- we were very fortunate last year on that end. But losing nearly 50% of your roster, many of which are big time contributors, is going to put us at a big time talent deficit. Westburg/Mounty/Urias/Kjerstad/Mateo instead of Rivera/Soto/Maton/Jimenez/Mayo is a huge dropoff. Bradish/Means/Wells/Grayson led to a huge dropoff. Coulombe/Webb instead of Smith/Selby/Irvin/Bowman etc is a huge drop off. Our saving grace is that 6-7 of these guys could be coming back in the next 2 weeks.
  12. 7.5 up on Detroit now, with 6 games head to head with them. We need to pick it up.
  13. Because we led MLB in homers for most of the year which masked a big time lack of situational hitting ability and ability with RISP. add onto that injuries to Westy and Mounty, and Adley not hitting in the second half, and you have an offense that is not nearly 4th in baseball. Maybe 4th worst.
  14. I’m sure we’ll get him in here with 2 outs!
  15. He has an option, so even easier. Just option him and keep him in AAA in case.
  16. I'll say 6 or 7, but we get back our "cavalry" in the last week and add Westy, Mounty, Kjerstad, Urias, Grayson, Webb and Coulombe to our playoff roster making us much more dangerous for an October run. As I re-read that, its just absurd that we could potentially add 7 big contributors to this team. We are suck a different team with Westy/Mounty/Kjerstad/Urias for Eloy/Rivera/Soto/Maton and Grayson/Webb/Coulombe for Smith/Kimbrel/Povich.
  17. He would replace Eloy WAY before he would replace Slater.
  18. Mayo’s first back to back starts since August 2 and 3 if I am reading his game log correctly. He looks overmatched, but hardly has been given a consistent chance
  19. I take back everything I said about Mounty
  20. Kutter gonna throw a complete game with 85 pitches?
