  1. I mean we were all alive last year. Presumably. How much worse do you expect the pitching to be this year? I actually expect them to be better.
  2. I'm not sure I've seen this much consensus here in a long time. I'll add to it. I like the trade. I think Dillon Tate becomes closer. If I still played fantasy, that would be a play to make.
  3. Well, factoring in the lost year of his prime Mancini endured, I'd take Mountcastle for the over.
  4. Dude, you run your mouth constantly and people are going to respond. Deal with it. Don't want people to respond to you? STFU. For once in your life. Or deal with the fact this is a public forum and you'll get public responses. "Sheep." "Troll." I'll counter with "Pedantic, repetitive, weak bully." Who would never in a million years talk to people in person like you do on the internet. Now to the point I was making is that your expectations are based solely on parameters that you yourself have set. That is largely the source of your frustration. You have put an arbitrary timeline on the rebuild and anything that does not conform to that you rail against.
  5. Who said the goal was to win in 2023? That's your arbitrary timeline.
  6. If you think sticking to a well-thought out and well-articulated plan is a sign of hubris, then I repeat: You don't know what hubris means.
  7. If it was so easy to do better than replacement players, the very concept itself wouldn't exist.
  8. I think sports' fandom, and the internet at large, is basically a portal to complain for a certain segment of the population. No matter what the O's do, a segment of the posters here are going to slam them for it. That's just what they do. And people can point to the O's atrocious performance the last few years as if that explains it, but the fact is, people were slamming them when they were doing every possible thing to maximize wins at the ML level, and won the most games in the AL over a 5 year period. Ironically, it's often the same people.
  9. I'm curious about this as well. He was 98 last summer.
  10. It's poorly written, but I think my interpretation is more likely than he is injured or recovering from injury.
  11. I think it was very sloppily written. I think it can be easily read as he's up to 90% speed for the start of the season. Which would be pretty normal imo, a few weeks out, injuries or no.
  12. Feel bad for the kid. Hopefully, he can healthy and get some good ABs this year.
  13. That big fat ring on his finger suggests he knows more about it than you.
  14. Just curious: Is that .533 from 54-92? Or does it count the Browns or previous manifestations of the Orioles?
  15. If we have the foundation we want and need, then we won't be pathetic for long. If we're still pathetic, then no, we don't have the foundation we want or need.
  16. Well something that should be apparent about Means' changeup is that he pitches up with it.
  17. Ok, I poorly remember yours and Tony's conversation from the other day. I should say we have him for peanuts up til his 28th year. (And yes, I'm assuming the setback allows us to do exactly that. Perhaps I am pessimistic.)
  18. I thought of Moyer but I considered his change more of a circle change w fade. I remember Santana's more as a split w drop. I recall Liriano as a young flamethrower with a great breaking ball. Buehrle is a pretty good comp. These are of course just my personal remembrances.
  19. As a general rule, I think you're right about extensions. However, specifically, we're talking about a catcher who we can pay peanuts until he's almost 30. How much do we need/want to extend him?
  20. The O's- Jays game will be broadcast tomorrow. PM me for a link.
  21. That shouldn't be surprising. Tate was up to 98 last summer. I know his results weren't great, but he consistently got rave reviews from visiting announcing crews.
