Since there was a thread to eliminate the field manager, I thought there should be a thread to fire the general manager

In the past 12 months we have gone from a 101 win AL East champion backed up by a AAA champion Norfolk tides and #1 farm system to a team

With Slater, Eloy, Rivera, and Livian Soto on the active roster

Connor Norby (10 game hitting streak), and Kyle Stowers ( 6 RBI's this week), were traded for nothing (and there was near universal agreement that this was a dreadful trade)

The system is heavy on LH hitting prospects

The top prospects (Mayo, Kjerstad) have major defensive short comings

No starting pitching has been drafted in upper rounds, there are zero pitching prospects in the pipeline. Cade Povich who does not have a single ML level pitch is in the rotation.

Jackson Holliday (see Norby trade) was rushed to the majors and is not ready

Team has played bad fundamental baseball for most of 2024 but Hyde remains in dugout

2025 looks bleak with the need for at least 3SP's, and several bullpen arms

I was willing to give the draft the bats, trade for the arms approach a chance but the ML wide shortage of pitching has made this approach and Elias a failure.

    Time to move on.

  2. What a pathetic excuse of a bunch of guys I'm seeing.  And I'm not talking about the O's, I'm talking about some of you so called 'Fans'.  With the amount of injuries this team has had, it's a miracle we're even competitive.  I know it's frustrating to lose to a walkoff, but to call this team a pile of trash, after they're battling every day is a joke.

  3. It feels like a lot to give up, but at least you can't say Elias is sitting on his thumbs and afraid to trade prospects.  Plus, Stowers and Norby probably weren't in our long term plans anyway.

Rogers is interesting, if he can find what he had his rookie season, this could work out very well for us.  If he pitches like he did two years ago it could be a disaster.

I wonder if this means we bring up Holliday?

  4. If we're hypothetically trading with the Angels, doesn't Rengifo make more sense than Ward, especially with Matteo out? He can play 2nd, 3rd,  and SS, and hits at a slightly higher than league average. Especially if they think Holliday isn't ready and are concerned about Mayo's defense.

  5. I saw Brenton Doyle got pulled from the Rockies game earlier.  They’re saying no trade as of yet, but I’m assuming someone is deep in conversations with them.  He seems to tick a lot of boxes, a right handed centerfielder who is a plus defender, and has some pop and speed. Also doesn’t hit free agency til 2030. If it is the Orioles, what would you all be comfortable giving up for him?

  6. What are your thoughts on Randy Arozarena? He's a power hitting right handed hitter, which we need, but plays subpar defense, which we don't.  He's having a down year, so he might come relatively cheap, but he looks like he might be starting to hit, and we know how great he's been in the postseason in the past.  So do you all think he's a fit, and if so, how much do you  think he would cost in terms of prospects?

  7. I'm as high on Mayo as most, but there's no guarantee he'll come in and start hitting right away.  Cowser Kjerstad Holliday and Stowers and Henderson all struggled during their initial callus. Heck, even Mike Trout struggled in his first season.

As for Kevin, while he can be irritating at times when he doesn't know when to tell a story that he had queued up or let the current drama on the field be the priority, he's an outstanding PBP guy overall.

Like Roy said, he's very well prepared (including his prepared puns on player's names), and has gotten better at showing the right amount of emotion for the event happening on the field without going full Hunter (Screeching on a homer when the orioles are down 10-2 in the 8th).

While I also think Geoff Arnold is a solid television PBP guy as well, KB is the best we currently have. Now whether he was better than Gary Thorne? I guess that's a matter of taste. Thorne was irritating because he kept calling pitches wrong and refused to stop doing so, but he always showed the perfect amount of excitement for the event on the field, bar none.

While I think all announcers annoy baseball fans at times, we are lucky to have one of the young ones that can bridge us old crusty 50+ somethings with a younger generation that the Orioles need too.

I think we were lucky to have Gary, and we are lucky to have Kevin. Love them both for different reasons.  Gary was at his best when we were being blown out, thankfully we're not in that situation too often these days.

  9. Do you think Skubal would be available for a package like Basallo, Kjerstad, Norby and Bradfield? Seems like it would take a huge package to pro him from Detroit, but we'd still have Mayo, Holliday, Fabian, Stowers, Beavers etc in the system.

What is going on?  Gameday has been frozen on a 1-2 count to McCann after Cowser stole 2nd for literally 2 or 3 minutes.

And you all are upset about a call.

They called McCann out on batter interference and Cowser back to first.  McCann didn't do anything wrong it was a horrible call
