  1. Giolito getting rocked in his Clev debut. 9 ER in 3 IP.
  2. Went to the SB's game last night. First of all, it was freezing - but I digress. Basallo didn't play and the game was fairly anemic. That is until about the 5th inning when Jared Beck came in to pitch for the SB's. Man, he was impressive. Tall (literally 7 feet tall) lanky lefty. 9 K's over 4.2 IP. Good, smooth, consistent mechanics and he seems to pitch with confidence. They didn't post pitch speeds but I couldn't help but to think about Randy Johnson. I'm looking forward to seeing him pitch again.
  3. He sure didn't look comfortable at the plate today. I think the pressure is getting to him.
  4. Norfolk Tides beat the Rochester Red Wings last night to extend the Red Wings losing streak to 18 games. Franchise record 18 game losing streak! The Tides have five more games this week with the Red Wings. Gotta keep that record going!
  5. Dave Johnson's emergency start in 1989 ("why not" year), game 161 against the Blue Jay's. Threw 7 innings and left with O`s up 3 to 1. If I remember, Greg Olson came in and blew the game, eliminating the O`s from winning the AL east.
  6. Seems capable, skilled, limited-hit backup catchers are a dime a dozen evey year. Why not draft Porter and take your chances? What have you really lost?
  7. Went to the ShoreBirds game Tuesday night hoping to see this guy. He was penciled in the starting lineup playing 2B and batting 7th. However, to my disappointment , he didn't play. Noticed he was not in the lineup for last night`s game. Strange.
  8. On a related note, I see where our boy Tanner Scott gave up a walk and a 2 run tater in one inning of work last night. 22 pitches, 12 for strikes.
  9. Spent the beautiful weekend in Ocean City and decided to go check out the #1 ranked team in the nation (Division III), Salisbury University. Beautiful day, nice little stadium and good college baseball atmosphere. The team itself can absolutely tear the cover off the ball and, on the defensive side, execute the fundamentals well (hitting the cut off man, picking off runners, backing up plays, outfield positioning). If anyone is going out to the shore anytime soon and have a hankering to watch good baseball, you should check out SU.
  10. I like my dog. I like beer. I like maybe three people.
  11. I could understand taking an underslot SP at #5, but another OF??? Gawd almighty.
  12. Bet he falls to the Nats- which is really going to tick me off.
  13. The beer tastes a bit colder this morning! Anybody have any info. on the parade?
  14. If Tony could figure out a way to televise these sim games, using animated lego-type characters, I'd watch at least three innings every night.
  15. Mike Devereaux. Great athlete, great attitude, great O. If I ever run into him, first thing I'd ask him is "Mike - was that HR you hit against the Angels fair or foul?"
  16. Perhaps it's a players union thing? Otherwise, Elias would have Davis in a mandatory, structured hitting program from October to February.
  17. This is like being a kid on Christmas morning. After weeks of anticipation and buildup, you open all your presents and ask "is that it?"
