  1. I'd love for the O's to get some more guys from Asia. The O's had good luck with Wei-Yin Chen, even though Uehara didn't work out as a starter he was very good as a reliever. Go for it and get good arms from wherever you can. Even though I think Japanese arms prefer to play on or closer to the West Coast, you never know.
  2. It's not realistic for them to cover all their hitting needs in house all the time. And they need a new veteran presence on the team anyway, especially assuming Burnes, McCann and Santander are gone.
  3. Get Robert and keep Mullins as the 4th outfielder and late game replacement.
  4. Yeah this isn't really worth arguing about and I sort of agree with you, but I can't ignore Adley being terrible for 3 months, Gunnar also going through a mini slump the past couple of weeks, Cowser just being Jekyll and Hyde throughout the season, and Santander's overall lack of plate discipline. On top of that the O's have been flat out dominated by some good starters the past few months -- the game against Snell is a good example. And then they've also been shut down by some no name starters like that Cannon guy on the White Sox. This just isn't a team that has played confident baseball for a long time except maybe after winning their last 5 of 6 -- but even in those games the Yankees were not playing all out and the Twins looked like they had given up. But in terms of pressure, we do have to give credit to the O's pitchers. They were very good and seemed to handle the pressure well. Maybe KC isn't that great of a hitting team overall, but the pitchers did a much better job handling playoff pressure than last season. It makes me want Burnes back even more though I know it's unlikely.
  5. Robert would be great but he gets hurt a fair amount. You'd need a very good backup for him or for Cowser. Maybe Bradfield would be ready faster than we hope but I wouldn't count on him for 2025.
  6. Actually, if qualifying offers are all the same number for all players, then I agree with you. I was thinking they were based on the player's final season salary but now think I'm wrong on that. If that is about the number Mullins would get in a QO then, yeah, I don't think the O's should offer him that. That said, I'm curious if the final season lights a flame under his butt to outperform his past few seasons. Mullins could still have it in him to have a great year next season. But no way I think he should be traded solely on the assumption Bradfield is ready to replace him. I don't think Bradfield has even reached AAA yet. If they trade Mullins it would be because they traded for or signed a new FA replacement for him or because they want Cowser in CF and they get a new LF instead. It just doesn't look like anyone in the minors is really ready for the OF yet other than Kjerstad.
  7. Not concerned about that. Good chance wouldn't accept it because I doubt it would be for big money. And if he's good next season then he could stick around at least as a 4th outfielder for 2026 too. Trying to get rid of Mullins is fine as long as you know you have someone to replace him -- but unless the O's are eyeing some specific FA or trade target they don't have that guy yet. But even if you have that guy Mullins can still be good to have off the bench. He's not that expensive, he can still hit some and he's got a good glove.
  8. But it would be silly not to try. RF is a power bat position. Why wouldn't they try to get a big bat there? This season has showed you can't assume all the young players will progress evenly and become big hitters quickly.
  9. We'd get a draft pick for Mullins, which may be better than whoever we could trade him for. Mullins' trade value probably isn't very high anymore. It seems like he has more value to the O's playing for them than he would have in a trade. But the bigger issue is who would replace him right now, unless it's Cowser. And if it's Cowser then we'd have to go find a left fielder.
  10. I don't think we have any young right handed outfielders that are considered ready for next season. The only outfielder on the team that can maybe replace Santander's production next season is Kjerstad. Maybe they'll do a trade. Teoscar is probably the best hitting FA RH OF but don't have time to really look into it now.
  11. Then I guess they were choking for about three months. I'm just saying the term "choke" suggests a team playing well that suddenly stopped playing well. Not that the Orioles were god awful the second half, but they were bad enough that we were all gnashing our teeth most days.
  12. Yeah, I bet they go with Kjerstad, but they need a decent right handed bat out there too.
  13. Teoscar's bWAR was 4.3 this season compared to Santander's 2.9. He still gets on base at a much better clip than Santander with a higher overall OPS because of his much better BA. I bet he's a better defender too. Yeah he's a year or so older, but I can't think of a better right handed option.
