  1. I imagine the average age for international guys is lower. I also think it’s fair to say the guys we got initially were not very highly touted and he was doing a lot of that to simply fill out rosters. Those 17 years olds are now 20 and sneaking into the lower part of the system. And out of that group we are starting to see a couple emerge as potential future prospects. Now that we are “established” in the intl market it will be interesting to see how quickly the top end int prospects move through the system. Being an Os fan I have no prior experience with that.
  2. If they are signing 16/17 yo’s and they play one season in dsl, one season in fcl, one season in low a, one season in high a, one season aa, one season in aaa that’s 7 years to MLB at age 23/24 which is about the avg debut age. We started 4 years ago so it seems, to me at least, they are 3 years away from having impact int players in mlb and throughout org. (This assumes typical trajectory, not for a “star” level player who would obviously move faster)
  3. The lack of international players does really stick out. We are still 3 years away before there are 2/3 legit int guys in the line-ups throughout the system.
  4. Watching the tides game last night the Nashville announcer made a similar observation about the tides. Adley 1st rd Grayson 1st rd DL Hall 1st rd Sedlock 1st rd Cadyn Grenier 1st rd Martin 1st rd DJ Stewart 1st rd Stowers 2nd J Jones 2nd Zac Lowther 2nd Vavra 3rd McKenna 3rd Baumann 3rd
  5. I think anyone throwing 100mph has a huge potential for injury. They were very careful with him. I think there is no doubt the stuff plays. Don’t waste it in AAA.
  6. Easy single off a Chris sale look a like in Small. He’s ready. Let’s get him up to Baltimore Sunday.
  7. He takes hacks. Def gets his moneys worth. I’m starting to like this guy. He hit a laser off Small right after Adley. If he could stay healthy he looks like he could be be a lot of fun to watch. He has sneaky speed for a big guy also. Won’t get my hopes up but it’s fun to imagine.
  8. It looks like there is a consistent approach through each level and that the results are tickling up. Pitchers are attacking more and walking less through the org. Batters are not flailing at terrible pitches and driving hittable pitches. There is a very noticeable change for the better.
  9. I think the chain and and the back story are great.
  10. So nasty to have to 4 pitches as a closer. Batters are so off balance.
  11. 5 runs on 5hr is pretty brutal after all the risp disasters of early season.
  12. Is Buxtons necklace only sparkly on TV? That would drive me nuts if I was pitching. Looks like a strobe light around his neck.
  13. That was the best post game interview ever.
  14. Noted. Where did I say I prefer canned lines? I said he was messing up canned lines and that he didn’t look like he wanted to be in the interview. To me, not a good look for a new guy. I imagine he knew he was going to have to do interviews when he aspired to be a Major League Baseball player. I thought he came off very robotic and generally disinterested.
  15. That was one terrible post game interview. Was messing up canned lines and acted like he was was annoyed to be doing an interview. Doesn’t seem to have much going on upstairs. He admitted he lost focus in the 4th and became a “fan” watching the offense put up runs. Pretty frustrating inning. Hope he bounces back in a big way.
  16. Can’t get away with cookies over middle of plate 1-2 in majors.
  17. I was thinking about starting a thread called “the orioles are watchable” but this pretty much covers that. It’s an enjoyable brand of baseball. You’d like to think it’s organizational wide adjustments and it actually is looking like that.
  18. 1. “Elrod’s corner” is amazing. I had seats in 84 for a decade + and frankly there is no better name. He was always there. 2. It was inevitable someone was going to sprint, on a sharply hit ball, into the corner. While dangerous it was an exciting play. 3. I like the new set-up currently and enjoy the change in the game. 4. They can always make an easy adjustment with current set up, if it turns out to be too extreme, and put in a shorter fence.
  19. Left fielder almost bought the farm. He was scared and decided not to die today.
  20. Offense has to pick him up after that effort.
