I’m a “small Hall” guy, so there’s probably nobody who didn’t make the Hall who I’d put in.    But there’s probably 25+ guys I’d kick out.

I struggle a bit with the gamblers and the known PED users, some of whom clearly deserve the HOF if you ignore that stuff.

Yeah there’s a lot of guys I’d like to kick out, and then replace with greats who aren’t in due to writers trying to impose punishments the Commissioner wasn’t strong enough to impose.

I don't buy any of this - I'm pretty sure it would've come up in the investigation if there were anything to it - but I admit it'd be pretty darned entertaining if it turns out to be true.

They said it came up. Just couldn’t prove it.

Yeah, and what does it really mean?   The fans still remember the championship, and the celebration.   Do USC fans feel any different about the 2004 national championship because it was "vacated"?   I don't think so.   I guess they can't fly a flag over the football field, or display a trophy in a trophy case.

The Astros championship will now be tainted in a lot of people's minds, and not in others.   Making some official statement that there was no champion that year, what does that really add?   Are you going to declare the Dodgers the champions now?   Are they going to have a parade for them in LA?

It's meaningless and I'm not sure what the people calling for it really are asking for.

If USC were actually the best team in 2004, they might still feel good about that season.

When the Astros trashcan beating scandal broke, I took the absolute silence from other teams (not players, teams) as an admission of guilt that they were doing illegal things, too.

  5. Like others have said, I just don’t see the upside. He’s an average starting SS when focused. He seems to have behavioral issues beyond being a wife beater (doesn’t know the signs). Everyone doesn’t have to be a saint, but if they’re a real POS like this guy’s actions indicate they better be Mike Trout level good before I consider them.

I know it's splitting hairs at 75 & 88, but I don't understand why Ryan would be #88 when he's younger than most and had a great year in AAA.

5 in the Top 100 is very nice to see..

Defense. All his value is with the bat, and it doesn’t appear elite.

  7. Obviously it’s a stupid rule. The NCAA is full of them. I hope some team abuses it to the point where they have to change it.

That said, it’s not the reason we lost. I’m proud that we hung in there against the best team I’ve seen all year. If our QB could get his nerves together on the road, we’d be 8-0 and staring down the playoffs.

Totally agree.  After losing big for two years and accumulating  high draft choices in 2012, 2013,  June of 2014 Jeff Luhnow was ready to spend some money  in the rebuild after the 2013 season..   The would be equivalent  to  Elias spending after losing  2019 and 2020.

Are we still doing that thing where we can only project Oriole moves based on what Houston did? That’s really tired and illogical.

Agree there’s nothing wrong with it.   Saying that, Trumbo had a .275 average in the minors, Mountcastle is .295.    Mountcastle has played each level younger than Trumbo did, and generally, the minor leagues the West Coast prospects play in tend to be more hitter friendly than the ones Mountcastle played in.     For all those reasons, I think Mountcastle will hit for a higher average than Trumbo.    That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be a better overall hitter or player.    I’m hoping he will be, but if he has Trumbo’s career, that’s far from a terrible outcome.

I just added up his time in the Angels minor league system and got an average of .288

Trumbo also has the better walk rate, though it’s still nothing spectacular. Good points about age of level and hitters leagues.
