Kremer with his 7th straight win against the yanks (per O’s radio).

    Dude's a Yankee killer.

I like him as an innings eater sp but I don't think he'll ever be a great pitcher. I recall looking at his stats thru one, two, three times they the lineup and seeing him do very well the first two times. I feel like he could be a stud long reliever.

Has any of you you ever seen a curse on the Orioles hit so hard and so fast? I've only been watching them since the late 60s

I'm a firm believer in the Curse of Pedro Llanes. O's haven't won a WS since he was selected in the first round of the '84 draft.

The O’s face Drew Rasmussen tonight, making his second major league appearance (1st start) since having TJ surgery on July 24, 2023.   It was his third TJ surgery, having undergone the procedure in March 2016 and April 2017 while in college.

I mention this because Rasmussen’s rehab time has been relatively quick.  He had surgery last July 24, pitched in minor league rehab starting July 21 this year, and now he’s back starting games.  Only about 12.5 months elapsed.

That gives me some hope for Kyle Bradish (surgery 6/19/24) and Tyler Wells (surgery 6/17/24) to return mid season next year.  It doesn’t always work that way, but with good fortune, it can.

As reminder, Bradish had both TJ and internal brace surgery, while Wells had only the internal brace.

I’d mention John Means here, but he’s a free agent this Fall so we may not see him in any event.

Definitely makes me hopeful for Bradish, but one thing to note about Rasmussen is his IP will be strictly limited for some time. I read that the plan is for him to operate mostly as an opener and go no more than 1 or 2 IP this year.

  4. Not really a fan of Soto. Always seemed like a bottom tier closer going all the way we back to his Detroit days.

Splits show he's been good vs lefties (.204 AVG, .284 wOBA) and gets killed by righties (. 305 AVG, .370 wOBA).

5.51 ERA at home (Philly) and 2.84 on the road.

Surprisingly, his numbers with RISP are actually better than when the bases are empty or with runners on.

Maybe the idea is to use him as a situational guy vs lefties only?

  5. I think this is a solid trade. We add a legit SP to a rotation that badly needs one for the stretch run as well as the playoffs. We get to hold on to our most prized prospects in the deal.

I can still see us adding another SP and RP.

So, I get it, however, even moving Kjerstad has to be thought of considering the long-term plan. Are they extending Santander? He's a FA this winter and he'll be more expensive to keep. The Orioles still have to operate as a mid-market team and that means keeping guys like Kjerstad. Now, does that mean he's untouchable? No, but I'd like to see him in RF next year and beyond. Santander is a good player and I've said so often through his years with the team, but time to say goodbye and thank you. I'll say the same for Mullins and Hays. If Basallo, Mayo, or Holliday aren't expendable for the current market then neither should Kjerstad. Does anyone really think his bat won't be more productive than Santander's in the near future?

We have guys in the system who should be productive for years as Orioles' players. Let's hold on to them for as long as possible unless it's the right deal.  And that doesn't include guys who will be unavailable to pitch in the post season this year.

They've been starting Kjerstad in LF and he's been making all the routine catches as far as I know. Im inclined to hang onto him at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for this process of developing talent and shipping out/letting walk the vets looking for big contracts. I agree re: Kjerstad. I would love to see him become the man here.

Which way does Fortuna’s wheel point on Kimbrel’s fastball tonight?

Don't worry. Kevin assured me we would win today.

I wonder if they go back to Kimbrel if this stays at 3.

Looks like it's Cano. Probably the best move for my blood pressure

I want to win a World Series after being a bottom feeder my whole life. They have a legitimate shot to do that. You gotta take a shot now

So you win one, then go back to being a bottom feeder after draining the system of talent and your home grown ML guys price out of Baltimore.

IMO, there's really no one available at the moment who's worth moving Basallo, Mayo or Holliday for. Kjerstad would be tough to let go, but based on his position, years of control and  "defensive prowess," I'd be fine seeing him go for a solid SP. His bat is legit though.

Remember when Kevin Gregg was our closer and put a runner on like pretty much every time he went out there for a save lol.

I feel like flat breezy was the same way
