I'm basing my opinion on how he has pitched since returning from his injury.  I don't think it's a long-term problem, but why not let him work the kinks out in AAA and then promote him once he is firing on all cylinders?

I went back looked at his AAA numbers and let’s just say I found them be less than inspiring even before the injury. He was only able to get past the 7 th once and through five a couple times. The strikeouts were good but too many walks. The kids got great stuff but after his struggles last year and this spring it’s clear he has somethings to iron out.

  2. Threw a lot of off speed stuff today. That must of been the plan. He Worked from behind a lot.  He did strike out Correa but his stuff was not dominate. Hard line drive off glove hand was a little scary but he shook it off stayed in the game.

    But does it help?

I doubt we have any data one way or another.

I think it has a lot more to do with the individuals.

I agree whole heartedly that it depends on the individual.

Odor for instance was not great statistically but I do believe is presence in clubhouse last year helped us a lot especially with the young Latin players.

Clearly. The question is why he thinks we need that when we have Vavra and three near MLB ready prospects to do the same thing cheaper.

It doesn’t hurt to have a guy that’s had more than just a cup coffee in the big leagues especially on a very young team.

No. Elias did mention that Santander had taken some reps there, and that they had Adley play some 1B in the minors.

Interesting. I thought Stowers might be a fit there especially since he didn’t look to fluid in the out field last year grant it was a sss. Maybe he looks less fluid at first. Didn’t he play some 1st base Norfolk or am I mistaken?

Expensive for what?  We have one of the lowest salaries in the MLB, and he's giving us significant value over his cost.  You've got 3 more years that he'll be better than his salary and by then Fabian and Beavers could be options too.  And you probably won't give a 31 year old CF a Nimmo deal at that point.

There's no evidence to suggest that we won't continue to have one of the lowest salaries in baseball.

I'm not so sure it makes sense to trade Mullins he's a good leadoff hitter, has some pop, great speed etc. but I don't see the orioles committing to him outside of the 3 years of control. That 3 years we have of him at more than a reasonable price provides great value in and of it selve. I think the right young pitcher with similar amount of control would however provide greater value.

I don't expect the O's to try to extend Mullins that attention at least I hope will go to Gunnar,  Adley and eventually Greyson.

I'd probably like to see Bryan Reynolds get moved first just to get a better gauge of Mullins market value, unless we were offered the right pkg in return that incudes a young major league ready quality sp high upside with at least 2 years of control.

If Mullins were to get moved who plays CF? Personally I think Mckenna would be an adequate placeholder until Cowser gets some more Ab's at Norfolk.

  7. Do we really want to move Cowser? Mullins is reaching the stage where he’s going to be to expensive for us to keep. So if that’s the case would it be best to put a pkg together featuring Mullins and would it be able to net us two if the four?

  8. I'd like to see us hold onto our big league guys Mullins, Santander, Hays and Mountcastle, but offer the fish either Westburg or Ortiz plus a couple fringe prospects. Of the four supposedly available is that enough and for who should we target?

I have to ask, what makes you think that?   Kjerstad hasn’t played a day of AA baseball yet.   Gunnar Henderson, who was the best player in the minors last year, still didn’t make it from AA to the majors until the last day of August.  Stowers, who is a LH power bat and had already reached AAA at the end of 2021, had a good AAA season in 2022 and still didn’t reach the majors until mid-August.  Westburg, who had a bit more AA experience than Henderson going into 2022, got promoted to AAA with Henderson in June but never made it to the majors last year.   So I see zero precedent to suggest Elias would promote Kjerstad to the majors in June even if he were putting up a Henderson-level performance, which he probably won’t.   I’ll be very happy if Kjerstad does enough to earn a promotion to AAA sometime in 2023 and puts himself in position to be a candidate to make the major league roster in 2024.

Wishful thinking more than anything probably. Like you said nothing Elias has done suggest it will happen.

He was impressive  in the afl, Father Time doesn’t stand still he’ll be 24 next month. Former #2 overall pick. The organization if he shows that he’s ready could move him threw the system quicker to make up for the time he lost due to his medical issues.
